Good original, poor reproduction
I own a copy of the original 19th century edition of this book. Most of the text and images are still relevant today. Good horsemanship is, after all, good horsemanship. However, the reprint leaves much to be desired. The text reproduced well, no problem there. The issue is that the images did not. In most instances, they printed so poorly that you wouldn't know what they were of without the caption. In a some cases, there were just random black marks or even empty white space. So, if you find a cheap copy, and want to read the book, by all means pick it up. But if you're wanting to look at the images, you'd be better off downloading the version at Google's book search:
