Can't believe how light it is and how well it vacuums.
After owning one of these you can't go back to one of those heavy vacuums.
The filtration is excellent and I rather have a bagged vacuum and it holds
a huge amount compared to a bagless.
Having a separate hand vacuum is also great because while I'm vacuuming the floor
and carpeting one of my kids can be vacuuming the steps, couch, and chairs.
This is a winning combination and now my daughter wants one also.
Buy it and you won't be sorry.

We had an upright that was a consumers digest best buy ten years ago. Received the Hoover quickly and used it today. I am glad the old vacuum died. This is much lighter and easy to manuever. The longer cord saves moving from outlet to outlet. Picks up very well. Easy to use on stairs. I like the idea of the small canister for the things an upright cannot do, much easier than connecting attachments to my old upright and trying to get it close enough to reach whatever. I would recommend this seller. Vacuum arrived very quickly and in great shape. Thank you

Nice vacuum for carpet
) Very nice vacuum for carpet, but it does not have any onboard tools, nor can you turn off the beater bar, so not so good for hard surface flooring. Overall though it is a great vacuum. Very light and easy to use.

I bought this vacuum after my old one died. I had a big decision between the new hoover, or the oreck. I decided on the Hoover since its the brand I trust the most. Now heres a break down on the results.
The vacuum performed to my satisfaction. I had to wonder if it was sucking up the dirt as good as my old one cause it is much more quiet than the older versions, but after checking the bag I was positive its getting the job done.
The vacuum has two speed settings, which is a blessing to me. No more sucking up those throw rugs. Its nice to be able to push the low button on the handle and run right over them without having to turn the vacuum off and pull the rug out of it. The handle is also easier to grip for me, which helps ease the pain of arthritis in my hands. Also this vacuum is light and makes pushing and pulling easier without the struggle of hand cramps. On the handle there is a check back light that will let you know when your bag is full.
Now on to the reason why I rated this as good instead of excellent. THE HEADLIGHTS!!. They are horrible. Hoover incorporated LED lights, which we all know are very bright but I don't think alot of thought was put into it. The lights seem to shine too high up, and I find focusing on the carpet where they shine makes me disoriented.
Overall I do reccommend this vacuum. It gets the job done, your arms wont hurt after your done, and you will be amazed how nice your carpet will look.

Hoover platinum with canister - does a very good jobReview created: 08/09/09(updated 08/09/09)

This upright comes with a small canister. After using the upright for a couple of months, I can say that it does an excellent job on carpeting, even better than my old vacuum, which was a self-propelled Hoover Wind Tunnel (with bag). BUT, I really don't like having to get out an additional vacuum to do baseboards, upholstery, lamp shades, etc. I would love to see this same upright vacuum with the tools on board like my old Wind Tunnel.
The other thing about this vacuum is that the bags are VERY expensive, and of course, you also have to buy (fairly expensive) bags for the canister vacuum that comes with it. At this point you can only get the brand name Hoover bags. Yes, the bags for the upright are quite large, but I have found that they don't get as full proportionally as the old bags did, so I'm not sure I'm changing bags that much less often. I'll be happier when some generic bags become available.
Love the light on the front of the vacuum - it's quite bright and pointed in the right direction. I like the way the cord wraps up on this one better than the old Wind Tunnel, even though there is no "release" so you can pull the cord off all at once. This one is sturdy and you don't have to worry about it "releasing" when you are trying to wind the cord up, something that happened a lot with my Wind Tunnel. The light weight is great; I'm in my late 50's, and I would have no problem carrying this vacuum upstairs. I like the full bag warning light, and I like the new system for removing and replacing the bag. Love the placement of the on-off switch (on the handle). At first I thought you might accidentally turn off the vacuum, that maybe it was TOO convenient, but that hasn't happened at all. The soft "bumpers" on the vacuum make you less likely to nick your furniture also. The width of the Platinum is just a little less than my old Wind Tunnel, which makes it easier to maneuver into tight spots. Last of all, the Platinum is quieter than my old Wind Tunnel, a factor I think my husband appreciates even more than I do.
Price? I think you are getting a quality vacuum for the money.
The positive aspects of this vacuum do outweigh the 2 negatives (expensive bags, no tools on board), and if Hoover took this same vac and put tools on board...vacuum nirvana!
