Hoot (DVD, 2006)

This movie, Hoot, is great and entertaining. The entire family will enjoy this. You'll learn about owls as well as what its like to transfer eight times in ten years to different school as Eberhardt did. Immediately he meets a bully on the bus and pops him in the nose. He becomes an instant hero with other school mates as no one has ever touched a hand on this bully before. Then he meets a Soccer Queen who actually is down to earth and shares that her brother is the barefoot kid. A great movie to add to your collection. Not boring whatsoever.

Never received the product; the seller ran off with my money!! Ebay gives the option to report this but nothing seems to get done. A simle sorry woud have been nice.

The movie has a nice eco-friendly theme, but I'm sad to say the essence of the book (upon which it's based) is lost in the translation to movie. Really liked the movie the first time I saw it, but couldn't sit still long enough to watch it a second time. The message is a good one (save the critters!) but the movie itself is a bit disjointed.

I'm more of a scary thriller movie fan but I have to say this was a wonderful Show. my whole Family was able to sit thru the entire move together and enjoy it. It has a great story line and some great comedy from begining to end. I rent before buying but have since bought this movie to add to my collection. It was well Worth it.

My son just loves this movie and it's a great family movie too. It's one of those movies that I can listen to again and again while he's watching it.

if there was a rating between Excellent and Good, I'd take that. The book as always was better, but the movie was well done and shows that kids can become empowered to do the right thing.

Typical of Carl Haaisen, there is a strong environmental message in the book. We rented the movie and really enjoyed it and felt that it was a good one to own because of the theme and the story line.

Enjoyed reading this book to my class. The DVD was very good also. The movie was enjoyed by all. I like the idea of the book that young people will stand up for things that need changed. The students in my class loved the book and DVD. I also like to be able to show the students the differences between books and DVD.

Hoot is a great story of adolescence,bullying, friendship, dedication and kids on a mission to make a difference in a community. Jimmy Buffet's music is a great back drop for the setting of this movie and it fun to see a movie where kids are victorious when they've discover injustice. You will laugh & cry and it's a great film for adults too. It will restore your faith in youth!!

Hoot is based on the best selling book by Carl Hiaasen, which I have read numerous of times. Teaching us all a life-wise message about to care for the enviremont. Seeing the movie the first day it came out, I quite enjoyed it. It was funny, heart warming, and it was cute when the owls poked their heads out of their burrows.

Roy is the new kid in Florida, moving from Montana. Since his dad has a job that moves him around a lot, they pack up and move with him.

Having a gigantic bully, bully him a lot, it is hard to make it "home" worthy. As the big bully pushes his head up against the window one day on the bus, he sees a bare-footed boy run as fast as anyone he ever saw. That same day, a girl gets mad at him for no reason, and he wonders why she dosen't tell him.

The running boy is Mullet Fingers, and it just so happens that the mad girl's name was Beatrice, Mullet Fingers's brother. They share a lot of secrets together, being extremley close to one-another. They share a secret that starts a beautiful journey about a construction site and some owls.

Despite the efforts of the bully, a funny and dim witted policeman (Luke Wilson), and an executive with the pancake company who has a secret of his own, the three kids find a way to discover the truth and bring happiness to everyone and the owls.

A movie for the "Bird Person" or anyone that just loves nature. Being a fan of flamingos, I just had to see this movie, even though it didn't have any flamingos in it, it had birds, so that satisfyed me. Showing a message, this movie is particularly for everyone, not "The Small Fry" of the "Old Folk", but for everyone because it dosen't matter how old you are, it demonstrates the message perfectly.

I was skeptical when I sat down to watch Hoot. The majority of kid's movies are a little tough for adults to watch. Hoot caught my attention right off the bat, and kept me interested. The story is mostly believable, the soundtrack is great, and the scenes are beautiful.

Good wholesome family movie that is a lot of fun with a message. Jimmy does a fine job with his role. FINS UP!!!

The movie was great. I think that its funny how no one found 'mullet head' hiding in the old boat house. I bought this movie because i wanted to see if it is anything like the book.

HOOT, produced by and featuring an appearance by singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett as a science teacher is good family entertainment. HOOT is based on a book by Carl Hiaasen.

Its a little preachy, especially near the end and I was surprised that some large eco-organization like the Sierra Club wasn't a sponsor. What I didn't particularly like is the movie's acceptance of trespassing and vandalism in order to make a stand.

Also there is a bully featured throughout the movie and I feel that the way he was dealt with was unrealistic. The bully character was emphasized too much and took away from the plot.

There is also a homeless boy who lives in the woods as one of the main characters although we never really learn why he is homeless.

Overall, the cast is good especially Luke Wilson, who can play 'down home, shucks Ma'am' with anybody. The ageless Robert Wagner also makes a cameo near the end of the film.

As a Floridian, I enjoyed that it was filmed here in southwest Florida and features some great native scenery and songs written by Buffett (check out the soundtrack also).

My 7-year old daughter enjoyed the movie and did learn about native endangered creatures and the beauty of keeping what makes Florida great.

THIS IS A MOVIE THAT THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN WATCH...THATS RARE THESE DAYS! WE LOVED THE MOVIE AND THOUGHT THAT IT WAS A FEELGOOD MOVIE THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY IN THE END. I THINK PEOPLE WILL ENJOY THIS IF THEY WATCH IT.

I really liked about the movie was that it was quick to arrive. I didnt have to wait for long time. Very good business to do with. The movie was in very good shape.

My daughter HAD to have this movie. So I bought it for her. She watched it within minutes of it arriving. I do have to admit that I didn't watch the whole movie with her - as a mom there were a million other things to be done. But from what I saw it was nice. And it was all she was able to talk about for quite a while. Heck, it even sparked quite a bit of interest in finding out about other endangered animals and her making an effort to help animals in our neighborhood. Awesome. Anything that is such a positive inspiration to a child is wonderful.

This DVD matches the novel, HOOT, very closely and tells a great story for young and old. I plan to use it with my 8th grade students this year.

I was very happy with the item, it was in great shape. No scratches and the case looked brand new. I will definitely buy from seller again.

Having lived through the life of a Navy brat this was a refreshing look at the new kid trying to fit in. Roy does an outstanding job of being both scared and overconfident in his quest to find friends and his place in this new community.
His ability to stumble onto a human-interest story while just finding his bearings in his new home, is a stroke of genius and the development of the storyline by the writer is amazing.
All ages will love this fast-paced movie with an all important environmental issue and the appearance of a small group of people (kids here) being able to go up against big brother is fun to watch.
The music throughout the movie is great and fun to listen to with the appearance of Jimmy Buffet superb.
This will be a cherished addition to any family's movie library. Also don't forget to read the book of the same title.

Great movie for children and adults.The children get together to save baby owls.I bought this movie because I had seen it before and liked it.

Hoot is fun and playful for the whole family. Saving endangered species in an urban monopolistic area is pretty hard and this movie puts childlike perspective on such a concern. Save the animals, buy a copy.
