An original back-yard adventure of fun!
Review created: 09/18/08

The Walt Disney Company has always provided many great moments in the history of screen entertainment. Each film release was a unique endeavor into a special time, place and event with many memorable characters. Never more so than with the 1989 comedy family film, "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids". This unbelievable movie event tells about aspiring inventor Wayne Szalinskin, played by Rick Moranis, who perfects a machine capable of shrinking objects down to a hundredth of their size. Marci Strassman, best known as Julie on the sitcom "Welcome, Back Kotter", plays Wayne's wife Diane, who is ecstactic about the shrinking machine actually working, only to be horrified when she discovers that their children and the next-door neighbor's kids were minitaurized by accident. Matt Frewer and Kristine Sutherland portray Russ and Mae Thompson, the next-door neighbors. Russ is always complaining about Wayne's experiments. The machine usually explodes items, until a baseball knocked through the attic window of the Szalinski's home triggers the machine, making it reduce items instead. It is here that the kids, played by Amy O'Neill, Robert Oliveri, Jared Rushton and Thomas Wilson Brown, become the victims of the shrink ray. After being taken outdoors with the garbage, the four of them go on a backyard adventure through the lawn in order to make it to the house. The grass becomes a jungle for these pint-sized kids. This is Disney family fun with total originality. Also included is the Roger Rabbit short, "Tummy Trouble". Your entire family will enjoy this groundbreaking movie, again and again.
