THE HONESTY ROOM by Dar Williams (CD, 1995)

This CD introduced the intellectual folk world to Dar Williams, the queen of long-story songs that circle in upon themselves and somehow fit all of those words into the proper meter and rhyme. "Flinty Kind of Woman" and "The Babysitter's Here" are pragmatic feminist anthems; "When I Was A Boy" perhaps inspired Beyonce's current hit; and "Alleluia" is a simple and beautiful paean to the myth of dying young.
