Homeless to Harvard (DVD, 2004)

I first saw this movie on LifeTime Movie Network channel, and loved it. I cried through the whole thing. I bought this for my 18 yr old daughter to see that when times are and seem really hard or bad, that we will get through it and can get through it, if you just put your mind to it. To see that you can do anything you really want to do, no matter what. I am a single mother of one 18 yr old daughter. I divorced her father when she was 6mos or less old and it's just been us all this time. She is a very smart and good girl and has goals, but gets very frustrated that she can't do the things she wants to do because of money and time. She wants to be a Veterinarian really bad. The only thing I saw that is very different than us is that I have never done drugs. I loved the fact that her daughter was able to go on and overcome her moms mistakes. My daughters father is an alchoholic and she hates it when I drink at all. I trust her totally when it comes to her friends doing drugs and drinking that she will be very smart about it.

My daughter watched the movie and really liked it.

Homeless to Harvard, is a must see movie. This movie is so empowering and very up lifting because it makes you realized any challenges that it comes acroos is up to you to overcome them. As long as you believe in yourself. I love this movie! Will buy it as a gift to any student, even college students or adults who feel that life is though.

The movie was great teaching tool...and far from boring! When it arrived, the case was cracked. When I told the seller, they mailed me a brand new one-no hassles of having to return the cracked one! Very impressed all around.

Thora Birch portray the life of Liz Murray a girl who becomes homeless after her mom is sent away from her because of AIDS. Lizzy is a very Smart girl who really wanted to go to school so she does, and after everything she gets a scholarship to HARVARD.

There are a lot of very SAD moments throughout this movie, is very well done, she acting is great!!! Soundtrack is also very good although a little bit hard to find the songs.

Overall 10/10 A+ 100 !!

I bought this dvd, because I had seen about 10 years ago and my son asked me to buy because he wants to see, too. This is an excellent dvd because it teaches to how struggle to daily life problems.

Heard the real Elizabeth speak at a YMCA luncheon....the DVD was really good.
Based closely on her real life.

Simple and easy transaction. Accurate selling information on product. Some what of a slow turnaround on shipping the product. But I would go with them again.

This is a really great story for all. Every body will learn a lot about how some body can change her or his future by hard work and right decision.

I bought it for my daugther.She is a college student,and after viewing the movie with her for the social science class project,I have to say everyone must see it.

This is a great real-life truly inspiring story of resiliency! Liz Murray maintains her focus on overcoming the seemingly insurmountable obstacles life handed her to create her own destiny! I love this film!

When I saw this movie on LMN, I thought where could I purchase it. So, I looked on ebay and it was there. Anyway, the movie is excellent very moving
It's a true story so that had to be what I liked about it the most. This
movie get's you motivated to do whatever you would like to in life. Liz
Murray is portrayed as an innocent victim of her parents mental illnesses
and that fact that her mother was schizophrenic and a drug addict. She takes
care of her family and the when her mother is committed to a mental hospital.
Liz becomes homeless and struggles to be tossed from her grandfathers to a few
foster care facilities. She overcomes all obstacles and eventually with her
intelligence she applies for a Scholarship at the New York times and wins,
she finishes Harvard, and gets a job at the New York Times.

It is an inspiring story of what a person can accomplish if they do not give up. I bought it because I work with teens who come from similar backgrounds. I donated it to the library of the school where I work.

My fifteen year old daughter wanted the movie. I recommend the movie for teens. It is a great educational movie showing you can get through your struggles in life and make positive things happen.

This movie is perfect to show to at-risk youth to teach them how they can overcome adversity in their lives. The movie runs at a fast enough pace that it keeps the youth's attention. Movie is great for the entire family. I highly recommend it.

This movie was used in training child care workers how one person can really make a difference in the life of a child and in how a child succeeds and grows into an adult. This movie is a true story based on the life of Liz Murray and the trial and tribulations that she faced as a young girl living homeless and trying to complete school.

Nothing ....I won the movie about one week ago and it arrived in good conditions, even dough was an used item !!!Thank you very much !!!I'll be looking for more hard to find movies like this later on ....

Incredible journey of a young woman who overcame severe neglect/abuse to go to one of the most prestigious universities in the US. This child really never had a childhood since both parents were druggies/bums. She went to school dirty and with lice. Kids laughed at her because she was nasty. She wore her underwear until it fell apart. I often wonder why people don't get involved more often to help children from dysfunctional families. This was a heartbreaking true story of suffering, determination, and drive. She did not graduate from Harvard, and I would have liked to know what happened to cause her to drop out...money, illness, frustration? You will cry and want to hug this young woman.

I loved it. Because this dvd are telling the truth story. This story are similar like me. It really touched my heart that why I bought the DVD.

MY CHILDREN HAD A STABLE HOME. THE ACTRESS,THORA BIRCH WAS AMAZING IN HER
PERFORMANCE, THIS IS REAL STUFF HAPPENING ALL OVER, THAT WE JUST CAN'T IMAGINE,
BUT, WHAT WAS SO WONDERFUL ABOUT IT, IS THAT SHE NEVER GAVE UP, INSTEAD OF
STAYING OUT OF SCHOOL, SHE DECIDED TO STUDY HARD TO GET HERSELF A BETTER LIFE,
AND EDUCATION, TO BE BETTER THAN WHERE SHE CAME FROM. I SO ADMIRE HER, MOST
PEOPLE IN HER SITUATION WOULD HAVE JUST CONTINUED TO GIVE UP. THIS MOVIE IS
DEFFINENTLY A 100% WINNER WITH ME. BUY IT, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I thought it was a very good story. I went out with A weman who had a drug problem. Liz reminded me of her daughter Kelly.

This movie is absolutely inspirational and shows what one young lady accomplished when the odds were stacked so incredibly against her. I had seen this previously as a TV movie, watched it with my teenaged grandson who had seen it already and wanted me to watch it as well. I was glued to the TV the whole time. I was thrilled to find this available on eBay...thanks!!!
