You have to be open-minded to enjoy this cartoon. It's animation isn't the best, but there are some pretty funn scenarios in the show. The kind of funny that this show has is more random, so maybe you should check out an episode on youtube first before buying a set. Personally, I like it pretty well and usually watch the first season about once a week.

If you like a bit of sarcastic humor mixed with the funny going's on's of The Coach, then you are going to love this boxed set!! I first fell in love with this series a few years ago and have since bought all 4 seasons, all of which have been well worth the money. The first season features something called "squiggle vision," in which the characters seem to be in a constant state of movement. This was kind of annoying at first, but after awhile I didn't really seem to notice it.
All in all I recommend Home Movies - Season One!!

VERY FUNNY CARTOON NETWORK ADULT SWIM SERIES THAT ARE MOSTLY PG AND SOMETIMES PG-13 RATED ( TO ME ) FOR CRUDE HUMOR, SOME MILD DATING THEMES AND CURSE WORDS SUCH AS DAMN AND ASS, WITH A FEW ADULT CHARACTERS WHO SOMETIMES SMOKE AND / OR DRINK. HILARIOUS STORIES ABOUT A YOUNG BOY WHO LIVES WITH HIS MOM AND BABY SISTER, AND MAKES HOME VIDEOS WITH HIS 2 BEST FRIENDS - A GIRL AND ANOTHER BOY, AND THEY ALL INTERACT WITH FELLOW STUDENTS, PARENTS AND THEIR SCHOOL TEACHERS.

I love Home Movies! I used to watch it on Adult Swim and was so sad when it ended, but was thrilled to learn it's now available on DVD
This is a great buy. The cartoons are amusing, but don't have the typical annoying shouting voices that cartoons have. And it's not the kind of comedy where every line is supposed to be funny and witty. Home Movies is very entertaining in a mild way. The better you know the characters, the funnier it its!
That's not to say that someone watching their first episode wouldn't laugh about it. The one-liners can be appreciated by all. As can the general concept of a very mature 8 year-old being surrounded by odd adults, his soccer coach in particular is pretty absurd.
In conclusion, this is a great show! And it's shot in squigglevision (which they got rid of for after this season).
