Holy Bible (2008, Paperback)

This is my first study Bible, so I really can't compare to others, but after it was recommended to me , I bought it and I now have a great new source for understanding the Bible like never before. The translation is very readable, and the notes, graphics, and references allow you to gain a deeper understanding of its meaning, as well as connect to other areas of the Bible with a similar message. I especially like the way the scripture of the Old Testament is explained and related to events and writings in the New Testament, and vice versa. You will not regret having one of these, whether you are a scholar, or just yearning for a deeper understanding of God's Word.

I am not a 'scholar' or in seminary or anything like that, so this is definitely a layman's review. Also, I only received it yesterday but I will give you my initial thoughts:
To put it simply this Bible is incredible.
The binding and pages within seem to be high quality. I have the trutone brown edition (with orange triangle on front) and it is very nice. The text is very readable and even with the notes, maps, diagrams, charts, etc (which are throughout the whole text and well done) it is not cluttered or confusing in the least. The articles in the back seem to be fairly exhaustive and cover a wide breadth of topics/concepts including salvation, theology and ethics. The translation is awesome. Easy to read, yet still has the feel of something sacred; combines the grand style of KJV with the readability of the NIV. Also, knowing who has contributed to this work and who has endorsed it, any concerns or fears over scholarship are totally put to rest.
I love it, it's like multiple resources rolled into one. If you're on the fence about whether the ESV Study Bible is worth the price, trust me when I say that it absolutely is worth every penny.
