This is by far the most outstanding science text I have had the pleasure
of using in the classroom. There are over 60 contributing scientists,
teachers, professors, doctors and educators to this book. If you should
win this item, it will serve not only as a teaching and learning tool,
but it will serve as a valuable reference, as well. In about 3 months,
I will return to Asia to teach and this book will be my science text.

I coach soccer players. At all times I always make sure my training teaches values in "fair play, good sportsmanship, respect and (etcetra, etcetra")
...but I also teach "focus, discipline, and quality of life through education". I mean, by insuring that my players take seriously the need to always concentrate on their studies and education because a soccer player's life can be cut short by a "bad tackle".
What does this have to do with my recent purchase of a science school book? One of my players had the "misfortune" of having a badly used book (copyright 2001) that was given to him to study during his school year in science. Unfortunately, kids being kids some of his friends decided to "dump something" in his knapsack (as a joke) and further ruined the book. It was readeable, but when he went to turn it in at the end of the year - the school book store told him that it was so badly ruined they would have to replace it.
They also advised him it would cost him $60 for this out of circulation book of which he didn't have. His parents told him he would have to work to replace the book.
When he mentioned it to me, I decided to search for the book online by the publisher and lo and behold - EBay came up as a hit, which struck me as odd. I followed the search and found someone who had "new" this precise book which I bought for a total of approximately $16.50 (including shipping). It helped alot because it taught the player two things. 1) Insure to cover the books and take care of "his things" (even from friends) and 2) He had to "dig up" my whole backyard (for my wife's garden) which made him decide he didn't want to be a "laborer" all his life - and now takes extra advanced classes in math to either become a computer analyst or engineer.
All that for a $17.00 book. Not bad an investment return in someone's future.
