Excellent Value on Often Hard to Find Edition
This book was required for my graduate film studies class; it is considered one of the seminal volumes on film genre studies by many experts in the field. Even the 1981 version is highly sought after as a necessary reference. Schatz has an easy to read approach towards establishing the study of American film genres, focusing on the classic period of Hollywood cinema from 1930-1960. This book is highly readable and interesting for both the scholar and casual reader alike. Anyone with an interest in what makes Hollywood tick will enjoy this classic.
I turned to e-bay because our Barnes & Noble run campus bookstore wanted $58.00 for used copies in poor condition. I found my copy in very good condition for its age at a fraction of the price.
