Hold'Em Poker for Advanced Players by David Sklansky, Mason Malmuth (1999, Paperback)

This is a great book. It is at times hard to understand but once you read it again it clicks and is very useful. I thought i knew a lot about the game but now i know a lot more. You can use the stategies for both cash games and tournaments.

This is a good book for any student of the game. The examples and strategies laid out for different situations are truly insightful. If you are looking for statistics, probabilities and such; this probably isn't the book for you.

starts with 30ish pages just about how to play with 2 hole cards... touches many aspects that other poker books don't.

This book is perfect for advanced players,alot of info here.I bought it to step up my game and after even a few pages read it already payed off.David Sklansky is the best math guy out there,and he shows it in this book.If i played poker this is the book to buy.

Purchased along with another book on No Limit Hold 'em and since I was in NL mode, I just let it sit. Now I'm in LHE mode once again. If you want to really learn Limit Hold 'em thoroughly, here is my suggestion:

1)Purchase Lee Jone's "Winning Low Limit Hold 'em". Read/study/learn/practice it. It is more than enough to make you a very good player.
2)Puchase Sklansky's "Small Stake's Hold 'em" and do as above.
3) Purchase this book, "Hold 'em For Advanced Players". And wear the pages off of it.

I suggest waiting to read/study this last book as it is extremely enlightening AFTER you have a good handle of the game play. The book is easy to read, but easy to 'miss stuff' simply because you don't yet know where you're looking! It is full of things you will gloss over as unimportant until you understand enough of the game's nuances to realize it is important! If you can put the information contained in this book into your game, you can become an elite player. It is as simple as that... and as hard as that.
