Compact and user friendly with great features! Can also take stills but you have to buy a SD memory card extra and you have to buy the software extra that will let you download the videos into a computer. I found Roxio online that you can also use to do this with. I bought this item at Walmart about 2 months ago for around $350.00 and I think I paid another $30.00 for the SD card. I am very happy with this camera/recorder. 2 thumbs up!

I love my new camcorder. It is easy to use and takes both mini DVD video and still photos to SD card. The 1200 times zoom was the most offered at the time. It has all the necessary features needed to get quality photos and DVD. It is compact and user friendly. I like simple to operate items and this is simple to use. I bought it to take video of my new kitten. It of course will be used for the rest of the family too.

I received my camera 2 days before my brothers wedding. I took it with me and recorded the wedding and finalized the disk at the reception and presented the disk to the bride and groom without them having to wait for anything else. They took it home and watched it and loved how it came out. I can't wait for them to visit so that I can take the still pictures they want from the disk.
It is easy to use and far more compatable to computers and dvd players than my 8mm camera, which is pretty much obsolete now. The finalizing was so simple and only took minutes for and hour long dvd. The camera is lightweight and the battery is small and light. I bought a couple extra batteries as the one that came with the camera only lasts an hour, as most camcorder batteries do. But, the disk was also only an hour, so extra disks, extra batteries, all set for my sons graduation up next.

I bought this camera to upgrade from my 8mm camera. I love it, it takes wonderful pictures and video. It's very easy to use and I love the fact that you can finalize your video right in the camera. Playback on this camera is very easy, just look up the thumbnail for the exact area you wish to review and it takes you right there. The only thing I don't like is that you can't switch between taking a still picture and a video very quick. You have to turn the switch to picture first and it takes a few seconds for that to come up, by then you lose the moment and then to switching back to movie takes another few seconds and you miss more again. My old 8mm camera I was able to take still shots and video with out switching back and fourth and that was very nice. But over all this is a GREAT camera for the Price I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this camera to everyone looking for a very good quality camera that is very easy to use. I finalized my first dvd right in the camera and let me tell you, it only took like 4 minutes to finalize and the movie came out GREAT! The pictures are of extremely high quality as well, I am very please with my purchase and you will be to if you are thinking about getting this camera, you won't be disappointed.

This is a great recorder for novices or folks like me who just DO NOT need something that is hard to use. I have been able to learn my way around this camera quite quickly. It makes recording a breeze with several nice amenites and wonderful clarity. I do wish it had a light, but my last one did and it really sucked the juice out of the battery,this one has great battery life. I have not really taken too many still photos with it as I bought a 10 meg/pix HP camera @ same time but the few I have were crystal clear. It does pick up any behind the camera noise or talking so you have to be careful if are wanting none of that. It was everything I thought it would be, I had researched on Consumer Report site and this one had some of the top ratings in it's price range and class/options available.
I would highly reccommend this model to anyone who wants a good ,easy to use,quality recorder.

The dvr disc is hard to find. Still have not found a store that sell the battery. Disc that are available are only for thirty minutes. After fina
lizing in camera disc will not play on standard dvd player.
I'am catching a lot of negative conments from my family.

This is my second purchase from E-Bay. First was a camera.

Lower resolution that even the cheapest Mini-DV, and nearly impossible to edit properly since scenes are stored on DVD. DVD is NOT recommended if you want to do any editing of any kind. See Mini-DV instead.

I love how small and easy it is to use. I dislike having to plug up the camcorder to finalize the DVD. It is very convenient for me. I take it everywhere. I like being able to record and take videos.

Love this DVD Cam! Saw the same cam at WalMart for $399.00 and I got it for $249.00 here on EBay! Easy to use, great quality and the clarity is unbeatable. I highly recommend!

It is a nice camera the zoom is great. I have owned Hitachi before all worked well. The battery dies way too quick i bought a bigger battery now all is well

What I like the most about my camera is the ability of recording in so many different kinds of media; I also love the zoom, I can literaly look straight in the eyes of a fly or an ant. The deciding factor in purchasing the camera was that I was travelling overseas and I wanted to capture memories and the history of the place.

The camera is not exactly what I expected. While it is quite small (which is cool), it is rather hard to use. I have owned it for a few weeks now & am still having a hard time figuring out all the features. Picture quality in dark areas is terrible & the so called "light" is a joke. You have to turn the screen around in order to get light onto the subject. If you move the camera quickly your "taped" picture will be pixalated (I believe that is the word), in other words the picture breaks up like a bad connection on satellite tv. I was much happier with my old camera, eventhough it is outdated, at least it would tape in dark areas & the picture was still good if you moved it quickly.
I looked into many brands before purchasing this one & found that the Hitachi was only bested by the much more expensive Sony. If that is the case, give Sony a try because the Hitachi just does not live up to my expectations.

We bought it for family activities, it is extremely compact and convenient compared to our last camcorder. There is not much that we dislike about this product.

Everything was great about the product. The only thing missing according to the manual was the remote control, but that's no big deal.

Price was very reasonable and quality of camera was excellent. Rec'd it on Friday about 3 PM and was shooting movies that evening around 7 PM. Has a lot of features but is so easy to use for a first time camcorder owner like me. I pick it up, turn it on and shoot. I really like the navigation key-it makes little mini movies when you start recording and stop recording and you can pick any to review or combine them if you choose just by hitting the navigation key. It is such a great camera and any one can use it with a little reading of the manual. Great value and I am so pleased with it. Recommend it highly!!!

iwanted this camcorder for hunting and the kids great product we filmed kids baseball games and softball games im hoping to get some good deer hunts on it as well . it should be great for that it is small and compact the people i have delt with asted fast got the camera in just a coupel of day so if you have a chance buy one of the camcorders they hold up if they dont they ciome with a warnity thank you

I got this camcorder for my boyfriends mom and she absolutly LOVES it! She takes it everywhere!!! She has no complaints and it works wonderfully! All the features work wonderfully, it's not complicated to use, very user friendly! I recomend this to anyone!

The low light feature "forget about it" NOT EVEN going to happen without a SUPER well lit room!!! Indoors very grainy videos!!! Soft buttons are really tough to use while recording. And even without recording the soft buttons leave much to be desired. I was warned about the soft buttons, but never in my wildest dreams was prepared for these buttons. Who would of thunk (think) that "HITACHI" would have done something so lame!! SUCH HIGH TECH yet super lame execution!!! GO FIGURE!!! AS for the low light problem I "was told" the 3.3 meg pixel version works far better (HOWEVER REMEMBER THOSE BUTTONS, AND RECORDING, TIME BATTERY LIFE)!!!!

PICTURE IS POOR... CONTROLS ARE DIFF. TO USE AND BATTERY LIFE IS VERY SHORT... IF I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED AT A LOCAL STORE I COULD HAVE RETURNED IT.. I DID NOT DO MY HOME WORK AND FOR THE PRICE I PAID I COULD HAVE PURCHASED IT AT WAL-MART FOR LESS

I like the size of the camera and the zoom range.

I DON"T like the quality of the image due to the fact that the resolution is limited. I overlook the fact that this camera has less than 1 MPixel.

Other than that it is OK.

I decided to buy this camera because you can record right into a CD. This way I can easily make copies and send to the whole family.
