History's Mysteries - The True Story of Braveheart (DVD, 2005)

let me begin with saying Braveheart is one of my all time favorite movies. After watching it a dozen or two times I began to wonder if it is true and to what extent. So I watched this, The History channel did a good job on helping to tell you that it IS loosely based on an actual person, William Wallace. The problem they explain is, it was so long ago there is no great amount of written information to be able to determine the true facts. Most of the written history was written by the English, his enemy, and its not often that an enemy writes too much info about his enemy. And if he does it is twisted to make the other look bad. What we do know is he did fight the english, was killed and quartered by them. This movie about him is credited with helping the Scotland people build a new sense of Pride in themselves.

This is a very informative documentary and is worth a look.

The seller offered this DVD at a very reasonable price and shipping was also fair. I had originally seen this story on the history Channel and after going to the highlands in Scotland while in the USAF were i fell in love with the country, I have been an avid collector of many things from Scotland, i particularly like the story of William Wallace, simply because he was an educated man, very rare for those times, and knew his fellow countrymen were being persecuted by the English. It is sad to know one of his own men turned traitor resulting in his death.
