Great Film, Great Blu-ray

First off let it be known that this is not what you would traditionally call an action film. As a matter of fact there are only 3 fight scenes in the film. One that starts the film off, one in the middle and then one at the end. The first 2 scenes are about a minute long and the last fight scsne lasts about 2 minutes. This is not a big acton film with tons of explosions and gun battles. However that being said it's also my favorite film of that year. It's a real character study/thriller. When there is violence it is VERY violent. David Cronenberg lingers on the aftermath of the kill to give a real look at the impact of violence.
Now on to the disc. The transfer is a VC-1 encoded transfer and it is very good. Some other reviews I read talked about the use of DNR. I honestly didn't mind it. Detail and colors were great, no complaints. The sound mix was a DolbyTrueHD track and yet again perfect. Surrounds get used well. Dialogue is clear and gunshots are loud when they do happen. Buy this disc. You won't be sorry unless your hero is Steven Segal inw hich case you should take a hard look in the mirror.
