Gene Autry's career in the entertainment industry spanned more than 60 years. He had moved from being a radio and recording artist in 1928 to becoming a major motion picture star by 1940, starring in some 90 movies. Autry also had his own television program, became a broadcast executive, and even owned a major league baseball team.
HIS GREATEST HITS documents America's first and favorite singing cowboy. Such familiar tunes as "Back in the Saddle Again" "Silver Spurs" and "Cowboy Blues" highlight this collection. Autry's warm, campfire voice and his straightforward, good-natured honesty is quickly identifiable throughout.
