Industry Reviews Boy Scout-leader Rajtar has written this book to provide the hiker with a single, comprehensive source of information on 5000 trails east of the Mississippi. Hundreds of trail guides exist, but too often the hiker doesn't know which one to consult, especially for unfamiliar geographical areas. Rajtar's book brings together information from 250 trail guides; it does not describe the trails but rather lists them, along with the address and telephone number of the organization or person responsible for each trail the distance of the trail, the trail type (straight or loop), and the guidebook from which the information was culled. A bibliography of the 250 trail guides cited concludes the book, which is actually one big index and belongs as much in the reference collection as it does with the hiking literature. Recommended for libraries with large outdoor collections. Pamela Bellows, Northwestern Connecticut Community Technical Coll. Lib., Winsted Breitman
Lists nearly 5,000 usable trails and hiking areas located east of the Mississippi. Each entry includes the name of the trail or area and its address and telephone number.
