Hiking North Carolina w/ GPS Compatible Maps

This book is very informative on the hiking trails that it represents. On the cover it claims to be a guide to nearly 500 of North Carolinas Hiking trails. In reality it covers 50 different locations (some of these places do have several different trails, though). My biggest disappointment with the book is the fact that 30 out of the 50 locations are all in one cluster on the western edge on North Carolina (in the mountains). North Carolina is a very big state and has plenty of state parks and hiking trails which did not get any mention in this book. I was really hoping for some trails in my area of North Carolina (the sandhills)and there are none listed within a 90 minute drive in any direction of my home. Also, I believe the GPS mention is a little misleading as I was expecting actual coordinates to enter into my GPS unit.
The book has a very good introduction to hiking with kids, dogs, safety and a very good section on trail etiquette which I wish more hikers would read, especially the part on leaving no trace behind such as trash or carving into trees and bridges. I only paid about $5 for this book and at that price it was a great bargain and I will definitely use it on my next trip to the NC mountains.
