What do you get when you throw four musically iconic legends into a studio? The Highwaymen. The first album by this experimental quartet, Highwayman offers such incredible cuts as the CD's existential title track, Highwayman, to the old standards like Big River and Against the Wind. Chips Moman provided the perfect production for men who do not need flashly slide-skills in order to make a song great.

You may not call yourself a fan of any or all of these giants until you own this album.

What can I say. If you like the singers you are going to like this CD. Negatives are some of the songs are sort of stupid but that's CASH. the three best songs on this CD are "Highwaymen" and"the last cowboy song" and"Desperado's waiting for a train".

I bought this Cd because I had the tape. it is a really good Cd. This is the first Cd these guys made as Highwayman. Plus, the singers are awesome. It has Johnny, Willy, Waylon and Kris, I don't need to say more.

Some of the music is haunting, some whimsical, but all of the songs reflect an earlier time or a currently relevant issue, and show off the talents of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson very well. My son had been looking for this album, specifically for "Highwayman", and was getting frustrated because he could not find it in the stores.

We have already lost two of these fabulous outlaw legends to the beyond. In order to fully appreciate these great legends, this is a must have CD. It exhibits how four extremely unique individuals with an appreciation for that diversity in every aspect of life come together in one common theme: friendship. Then they create a fantastic CD for all to enjoy. My personal favorite songs include: Highwaymen (which is more like these guys than most will ever know but they will remain), The Last Cowboy Song, Desperado, Against the Wind to name a few. Of course, I guess when you understand more about what is behind the music because you have either been backstage or you have just followed their careers since the beginning you have a greater appreciation for what these four have done for music and for the world. Greatness isn't just about fame; it's also about how you live and what you give back when you are famous. No one's perfect but it sure is nice when they are relatively honest and try to do the right thing. It was a great ride, guys. We miss Waylon and Johnny already. Keep writing and starring in movies, Kris, no one does a movie or writes a song quite like you. Willie, we're glad you'll tour to the end; you are truly a national icon. Thanks.

This is a good cd. The song Highwayman is the only song I knew previously, but I like the other songs now that I have heard them. Good variety of all four artists.
