Russell Mulcahy's original saga of immortal Scotsman Connor Macleod, one of a race of immortals who can only be killed when beheaded with a sword. After living in peace for four centuries, he is challenged by an old enemy named Kurgan. During a fierce sword battle in the 1500s, Connor MacLeod, a simple Scotsman known as a poor fighter, is mortally wounded -- but he does not die. MacLeod learns from the mysterious Ramirez that he is of a race of immortals. These rare knights never age and never reproduce, they can only meet death by the blade of another of their kind. Leaping back and forth through the centuries, MacLeod once again meets the evil Kurgan who nearly killed him 500 years ago.

After all these years the original Highlander is still one of my favorite films. The story is original, the actors do a great job, and the swordplay is pretty good. The trasitions from present day to flashbacks of past events is a great storytelling device. The Queen soundtrack only adds to the film. Each song fits the moment perfectly.

As the DVD and packaging, I really enjoyed the movie tin for this issue but I wish the quality of the DVD transfer had been a little better.

Nothing beats swords and cutting heads off. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Best movie....Ever. Queen soundtrack, chopping heads off, bagpipes....need i say more? Goes from Medeival warfare to modern day, still with sword in hand the Immortal Highlander defends himself against other Highlanders by taking their heads. There can be only one. Sean Connery is great in this movie. He plays the Mentor of McCloud and teaches him all he knows of sword play and about being immortal.

The cult favorite featuring the amazing musical talents of Queen and the indelible and loveable screen presence of Sean Connery lives on this immortal edition. Never mind the show, or any of the sequels- this is the only one you need to truly harness the action!

The definitive Highlander (1) DVD. Includes the Queen videos and bonus audio CD making this truly a collector's edition. The film / dvd quality is higher than previous editions making this a must-have. No idea if there is a blue ray of this series planned but for any fan of the film, you should check this out. That sensation you're feeling? That is the QUICKENING!!!!! Who wants to live forever????
