Higher Learning (DVD, 2001)

Wow this movie portrayed racial relations in a very negative way. The problem is that this type of behavior does happen and it's sad. There is a lot of violence in this movie but the story is well written. John Singleton directed it and he also did Boyz-N-the-Hood which is another classic.

It is really hard to believe how great Michael Rappaport is in this movie. I think of him as the funny dad on the new sitcom he is on. He goes phsyco in this movie and plays the part very well. Check this movie out asap! - gene

I was disappointed with John Singleton. The movie symbolically identifies an American Public University , a fictitional "Columbus University" in LA, with Haiti. Blacks are targeted by White Supremacists on an American post-80s college campus. Fellow White students are depicted as Lesbians, Rapists, or White Supremacists. Only women seem to be depicted as balanced in their racial relations.

This is a Neocon political fantasy film. There are no white males on this "PUBLIC UNIVERSITY CAMPUS that are depicted as having balanced racial views on campus. Not only that, but they appear to do nothing but drink or prey on white women. Furthermore, no significant White male faculty are depicted.
Sadly, we cannot use the film to understand "Higher Learning" in America. It is not reality. "Fast and Furious 2" is also one of the hits of John Singleton.

Great movie, very intense about the effects of racism in Universities. Not for the light of heart, but yet i still think everyone who can should see. A bit of violence and obscenity, but it attempts to make it that more real. The message is true and clear. In my opinion, a must see!

The way things are but you wish they weren't. With an all star cast, this movie is at the top. Someone trying to fit in, someone trying to make it in sports, and the others seem like their just there. A must see if you have not yet seen.

This movie talks about college education occuring outside the classroom. This film tells us to "un-learn" the racism and hate we have been around all our lives.

This movie hit home in a lot ways for me from personal life experiences especially in my college life! John Singleton is the best!

I really like that you took great care of your dvd, so that when I got it I had nothing to do other than pop it in anbd watch.

I decided to buy this movie because I heard lots of great reviews about it and that it was an ultimate "must-see" and those reviews were correct!
