High adventure with Tom Selleck and Bess Armstrong
Critics like to point out that Tom Selleck narrowly missed out on being Indiana Jones due to his commitments to the Magnum PI television series. Viewers of this comedy adventure can get a taste of what Selleck would have been like as Indiana with his performance as a frequently drunken former World War I pilot drafted to help glittery society girl Bess Armstrong fly across Europe to China to rescue her father and save the family fortune. Although the adventures are occasionally pretty improbable, Selleck and Bess Armstrong are believable in their interpretations and are aided by strong supporting character performances by Jack Weston, Wilford Brimley, and the ever enthusiastic Brian Blessed. A period piece that isn't too dated for today's audiences, this should have a wider release for audiences that love adventure with comic overtones.
