Hidalgo (DVD, 2004, Widescreen Edition)

Frank Hopkins' trying to preserve the American Mustangs always fascinated me. This movie gave an exciting and applaudable insight on his life's work. The famous Desert Race was an outstanding recreation of the event which kept me breathless throughout. The exploitation of the American Indians after the Civil War was another factor in the movie that was too heartwrenching to ignore. All in all, Hidalgo shows spirit and respect towards those who deserve it. I bought it to show my grandchildren not to take old stereotyped cowboy and indian movies seriously. This is probably one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The story (true) and action were continuous and interesting.

This is a great movie with a story that makes you think anything is possible. With the story of a man and his horse, it's a classic cowboy movie. Highly recommended!

Hidalgo is a wonderful movie that our children and grandchildren can sit down and enjoy. I got it at a good price to add to my DVD collection.

Hidalgo is a true/based on a true story of a tamed wild Mustang, and his owner. Renowned for his speed and racing ability over long land courses, they are invited to a grueling race in the desert overseas. Also, a history come to life lesson on the American west, and native americans, and wild west shows. It is constantly changing venues, action, adventure, intrigue, and cultures. If you are a Viggo Mortensen fan (Lord of the Rings)you must see this.

This movie is based on fact! We own Spanish Mustang horses and this movie gives excellent detail of the endurance races of years ago. It starts out sort of slow but when it picks up -you are hooked!

I Asolutely love this movie, the storyline is powerful! I bought this DVD because I will watch it more than once! I have always loved mustangs and cowboys and westerns, and this story is another to add to my list of favorite movies! This is one of those movies that once you get into it; you know it’s going to be a real spellbinder and you are along for a fast paced adventure!

It is an old time adventure, back in the Wild West where men were men and women were, well, women! The story line has heart, the lead characters have strength and spirit (I hear that there were about 6 different “actors” who played the role of Hidalgo), and the epic scenery and sand storm affects are astoundingly heart racing!

This is not a movie for the kiddies as there is violence (a man does get beheaded, but I assure you, no animals were hurt in the filming of this movie).

The movie is wonderful, it is exciting, emotional, based on a beautiful and extraordinary, true story. The main character has a very special personality, stubborn, strong but good-hearted at the same time. I loved the scenery in the desert and the horses. I can just recommend it to everyone!

This is a wonderful story of the old west and how an American wins a race no one thought he could in a foriegn land!! Great cast of actors and the Horse Hidalgo is awesome!!

All star cast. The struggle of the underdog to race across the Sahara. Forbidden love and trechery await the rider and his mustang while in a race against the finest horses in the world. Do not miss this movie.

When we rented the movie Hidalgo we loved it movie and wanted a copy of our own. It has a lot of action and horses in it. It's a great movie.

Based on a true story....a fantastic and magical journey to the other side of the world, where laws don't apply..and danger is an everyday event..The most wonderful horse, Hidalgo, has a heart that just won't quit..and a true love for

It's a great movie about being down and out or as low as you can possible go. But through it all you realize that you have roots, history, hertiage.

This man realized that he had to be on his knees going back to his Indian roots and pray. When he began to pray he could see his forfarther's chanting aroung him praying with him, giving him strength. His horse also found strength and they were able to make it through on of the toughest times in their lives.

This is a great action movie. It is based on a true story about a beautiful mustang. He is beautifully marked and is a smart horse. I am glad to know that his descendants are still found out west. The arabian horses in the movie are exceptional also. I had to buy this to add to my horse collection of movies.

I enjoyed this movie because it is based on actual events and people. While there are a few sad scenes, over-all it is a happy movie, and one that I have watched several times. This won't be a watch-it-once-and-set-it-aside movie. I prefer the fullscreen version, but the widescreen works better for some monitors

while the product was what i expected it was not in the "very good" condition as described. when i removed the DVD from the case it had something smeared on it and some very large scratches. i would have rated it as "fair"

Beautiful horses; an entertaining tale. Sandstorm reminded me of special effects in another movie, but still impressive. Worth the price of a movie and will share with others.
