Hewlett Packard OfficeJet J6480 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Over the years I have used numerous HP printer products, from the early Deskjet B/W series to newer all-in-one products. I have always liked the way they perform but the cost of ink cartridges caused me to utilize Cannon more often than HP. My last Cannon purchased was an F50 multifunction which I absolutely loved...cheap ink and very good quality for its generation. Since it finally quit working and I no longer have any of my previous Epson or HP printers I began the search for a wireless multifunction. The J6480 met the requirements.

It was well packaged and came with installation CD, USB cable, power supply, and phone cable for FAX. Software installation was straight forward although very bloated; over 200 MB of drivers and utilities. Wireless setup and operation was also straight forward with no surprises. It only required connecting the USB port to a computer that was on the wireless network during one phase of the installation. Setup instructions were quite clear. The printer went out over the network and gathered all information required for wireless operation and when it was complete, requested you to disconnect the USB port. Installation took about a half hour to complete for each computer that has access to the printer.

After installation, the computers came up recognizing the printer and operated flawlessly. I have not printed photos with it yet but text and color pictures are excellent. I never turn it off and print from three different computers. It performs at satisfactory speed for my use and the double sided printing capability seems to work well. I especially like the way the FAX will automatically detect an incoming FAX, and even if voices come over the line during a FAX, it will recieve the FAX just fine. This is handy if your voice mail message answers when a sending machine wants to start the FAX. The greeting can be playing while the sending machine starts the FAX and the J6480 will recognize it and receive the FAX without error.

There is a very significant issue that is being resolved by HP at the moment. When I installed the HP software I started receiving Device IO and HPqste08.exe End Program errors when turning off my computers. Additionally, when starting WORD or EXCEL by clicking on a file (rather than through the Start Window) it would take about 2 minutes to start the program and load the file rather than the typical 2 seconds it normally takes. HP gave me instructions to disable all HP printer programs from the Startup file in the System Configuration Window and these problems disappeared. They gave me instructions to correct this by loading their most recent installation software but I haven't tried it yet.

As mentioned at the beginning of this, cost of ink was a key concern in choosing a printer. So far I have not emptied my ink cartridges. They seem to be holding up much better than an Epson 6300 I have borrowed and recently been using.

This is the HP office jet all in one model with wireless capacity. I had an HP all in one previously and it functioned perfectly until the latch to hold the cartiridge in place broke. Unfortunately, HP does not make a replacement part so I had to purchase another printer. I love the reliability of HP's and I found a new one on ebay, with warantee, for $75 less than I could buy it wholesale, and it prints faster than my old printer. The only drawback was that it didn't come with the print cartridges, so I got online and found the cartridges for less than I could get them at Office Depot. So all in all, I saved about $80 on the new printer with cartridges, and had the convenience of having it delivered to my home. This has been a very positive experience. This is one of many items I've purchased on ebay, and I've been satisfied with every purchase.

This is an All-in-One that is worth its money. It was very easy to set up WiFi communication with my laptop. Prints with great quality! I am usually always hesitant when buying peripherals for my computer, especially when they cost a lot of money. But when I plugged this in and used it, my worries were relieved.

The one thing about printers that really bugs me, is when you are setting it up for the first time and it prints that color test sheet. That test print wastes a quarter of a cartridge sometimes. But this is an All-in-One you want to buy!

Excellent printer. I have one of these set up at home. The software is a must to install!! Once software is installed the printer works extremely well - both as a copy/scan and printer. I don't like the scan feature as it will copy a scanned document but doesn't necessarily scan into a file. I have to work that one out when i have an hour to waste. The fax works great - just make sure you set up the fax end - where on the printer itself, a menu appears in the view finder - and it is easy to set up. Works great - I send and receive faxes no problem. Definetly recommend this multi-function printer.

I had 3 other HP printers that I loved to use in our home-based business, but they took up too much office space. This one has replaced all 3 (a b/w laser all-in-one, a color deskjet, and a color laser) with great results! I am well-pleased and will be happier when the other 3 sell and are out of the house! I have found HP to be a name in printers I can trust!

This all-in-one arrived in three days after purchase. Very easy to get started, has QuickStart guide as well as regular manual. Has attachment allowing for rapid two-sided printing included. Print is clear and rapid. I scanned a small photo and it was clear enough for ebay listing without editing! Fax is easy. I have had HP all-in-one printers in past, this is definitely the easiest to use with excellent results. Also has photo card insert slot, and an optional wireless attachment, which I think I shall order!

Works like a pro with my mac. Some of the fancier models such as the HP 7800 series don't work as easily with multiple computers but this one works really well with several computers on a wireless network and I just love it! It's really good at faxing pretty quickly and it prints very well. The scanning function is very easy to use I've found and makes converting to PDF a breeze. I would recommend this to any home based business or just your average household.

We are asking ourselves how we ever managed without a fax. This HP all-in-one printer meets our every need, it's not bulky, noisy, etc. It make wonderful copies and prints perfect pictures, very professional looking. It's easy to operate and we would highly recommend this wonderful HP all in one inkjet printer to anyone wanting something for personal home use.

It has a fax machine also you can print photos without a computer from a memory card.

Quick delivery, even more than I expected, love the 2 sided print. Haven't had it long, but what I have used it, with the printing and used the fax service a few times. Has been great. Great price for what I received. Just need to learn everything it does now.

“Just an Awesome all in one printer”. The wireless network capabilities are fast and reliable.
The fax is also very reliable. Photo print is just as good with this model as compared to any hp photo printer. Also you can copy in Black and white or color. The best part about it is. It takes up very little space. No wires, cables and everyone can share the same all in one printer.

I love using it! The only problem is there was a little complicity in setting it up. But you can get to it.

I have a home network with a PC & 2 laptops and the wireless feature is fantastic. The top feed for copying is excellent also. I am very please with the over all features. I have recommended it to serveral people.

The printer does everything it says it does. No complaints about the printers performacse. Couple that with the price and its a perfect pairing.

What a deal, I love this Printer It has it all, We just printed Pic's of the Grand kids and after a couple of mistakes my fault of course it printed perfect and i faxed my paperwork to the office today and it scans and copies All this from across the room because it is wireless great machine

I like the all in one printer and it works good. Sometimes when using the copy feature it makes poor copies but maybe on high quality they would be better.

Price was very resonable but the machine is cranky, it seems to jam a lot and not
pick up the paper to feed for faxing and for copying. Quality of copies are good.
Overall I would not recommend this machine.

This is an excellent product whether for home or office. I personally prefer HP for their top quality but this is a big upgrade from my last all in one.

All in one ink jet printer. everything works great. I baught this printer about a month ago . everything works great. fax , printing pages on both sides saves me a lot of paper.

I bought this for the speed and for the wireless, the wireless is good but not great,maybe 10' .It takes about 2 min to scan or copy anything just a simple page if you try to scan a picture good luck it comes out very grainey.

I bought it because I needed a printer compatible with Windows Vista. My old one worked fine, just had a scanning problem because os compatability.

The printer quit working after printing @ 30 pages, "paper jam" error message.
Seller wouldn't take it back, HP NOT user friendly to deal with about warranty.
Next time I will go to Best Buy, no doubt, for office items like printers and laptops.
