By enabling faster downstream speeds from the ISP to the user, V.90 technology significantly speeds information delivery. Download drains such as graphics-intensive web pages, audio and video, and large files will download nearly as fast as ISDN connections and at almost twice the rate of the standard 28.8-K modem. The V.90 technology of the Lucent V.90 56-K PCI Modem is compatible with previous communication standards like ITU V.34, which means that whenever high-speed communication is not possible, the connection can be established via V.34. Users can upgrade to the new standard and connect with any ISP that is also standard compliant. Additionally, the backward compatibility of the V.90 modem allows users who do not upgrade to V.92 to connect at rates of up to 56 Kbps with K56flex-based...
