Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4L Printer

First time I ever purchased anything on ebay. Had the same printer for quite a few years and liked it a lot, but of course no longer is being made and is compatible with my old dos formats. So, I was happy to be able to find a replacement that works for me. Thanks

This HP printer was purchased to replace my old laserjet. It not only works better than the printer it replace it seems to function like a new printer. Included for the most reasonable price of the printer was the print cartridge which appears to have plenty of life left in it. I am very pleased with this printer.

Our 4L is a warrior- we've had our home printer since Windows 3.1 and have run several cases of paper through it. Cost per print is very low, very few jams (unlike later models with vertical feed). Not the fastest printer, or highest dpi (though some third party drivers give very good prints), but 90+% of printing is B/W text, which this does dependably and well.

When available, a refurbished power controller PCA for this printer goes for #33 plus shipping. I got a complete working printer for half that plus shipping. E-Bay is a good source for hard to find replacement parts.

The HP 4L is a great printer. I know it's old but never the less a work horse. Never had a problem with it until it died but I had it more then 15 years. I only got another one because my computer would not allow an install of any newer printer so I'm using this till I get a new computer and maybe even after that.

I bought this item because I haven similar item by years but fews days ego stop working and left two extra laser toners and know how handle this type of equipment, and use only in my home

A solid performer of a laserjet footprint and a real space saver, it doesn't hog desk space like inkjets or the multifunction printer, at a slight bit larger than a sheet of paper its easy to find space for. The printing speed may not be fast but it'll print into the next century

Good printer. Came within a couple of weeks. Had to clean it and still does jam a little. Overall, it was a cheap replacement for a bubble jet that was costing me arm and leg for ink...

I purchased my first HP LaserJet 4L new about 15 years ago, and it worked great for all these years. When it finally died a couple of months ago I decided to replace it with a used 4L, rather than repair it or take my chances with something new that might not be as good. The 4L is easy to use and understand, prints high-quality pages at a reasonably-fast rate, and is very reliable. The cartridges are perhaps 30X larger than a standard ink-jet cartridge, and cost almost $80.00, but they last for almost a year, printing thousands of pages. When you consider that a HP 901 black ink-jet cartridge sells for about $15.00, and is out of ink soon after installation, this machine is a real money-saver, to say nothing of the aggrivation of running to the store for those little ink-jet cartridges every couple of weeks. In addition, you can purchase off-brand 4L cartridges from stores such as Cartridge World, or on eBay, for even less. I recommend this printer.

It is a workhorse printer that I will never give up. I had one when they first came out in the early 90's. It lasted till December 2007 and then died. It was used to the max and only four cartridges of toner over the twenty years. Saved me huge sums of money but more importantly, it was there when I needed a good quality black toned print. The 4L may not be made anymore, but those who use it know how valuable it is in the college offices.

I had one of these peinters for 12 years and it finally died. Since I had a few toner cartridges it was better to get another printer than throw away or sell the toner.

Used mine for years and it never let me down with great quality and cheap consumables. The toner cartridges can be bought cheaply on the internet.
