I Bought an HP Hewlett Packard Color LaserJet 2600n Printer and I LOVE IT!! This Is a winning Combination of features and Price! You get an incredible amount of features for the Price, features like COLOR LASER PRINTING, Laser Speed, Laser Reliability as well as the much cheaper price of toner than ink. You can print 2,000 Pages on 1 Cartridge, Try that with an inkjet. You also get individual Color toner Cartridges so if you run out of yellow you only have to buy a yellow Cartridge. If you run out of Black you only have to buy a Black Cartridge Ect... Plus a feature that you have to pay an used to only be on Commercial Grade Printer (with the Commercial Price) a Built-in Network Adapter so you can print directly to the Printer from any Computer on you network!!

This Printer is perfect for the Home, Home-Business or Big-Business. It’s Color Printing Capability makes them great for the Office. The Color Printing is Great for Documents, Good for pictures. It Prints Pictures good enough for most things but if you want the best Picture Quality a Photo Inkjet With Photo Paper is going to give you better results But if you use Regular Paper This Laser Printer will Give you as good or better Results! Great Price mixed with Great Printing Quality Makes this One of the Best Laser Printers Around! Please Don’t forget to vote for this Review. Thanks.

The LaserJet is very easy to set up, taking about 2 minutes. Color for line objects outstanding. For photos, it has some banding problems. When printing the first photo, had very bad color and very noticable banding. In trouble shooting, using HP's guide, I found that the cartridges were bad. The store replaced them and color is back up to an acceptable level, though light banding.

Bought this unit for home use based on: 1. Name, 2. Paper path, 3 Price. Some HP's use a carasel based printing rather than a straight through path. Carasel paths are more prone to faliure due to more mechanical parts.

Overall, I am statisfied and would recommend it to others.

Looks like a good printer - not most econonomical choic
Review created: 03/16/06

Id di not purchase the 2600 so I can not comment on it's performance.
The reason was simply est page count for the toner cartridges.

Toners cartridges run around $100/ea for 2000 in color and 4000 in black

I decided on the 3500 because page count was 4000 in color and 6000 blk
( the 4500 series rated at 6000 color and 9000 blk )

Additionally cartidges for these were teh same price or less, plus there is venues available to refill and further reduce your cost.

This savings more than makes up for the $100 - $150 more you'd pay up front for the printer it's self.

  Great Entry-Level Color Laser, but...
Review created: 10/03/06
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I have a small business and wanted a low-volume color laser printer that would work on our small network (network ready) and would work as a direct copy output device for our HP 9100c digital sender. I contacted HP pre-sales on their nifty chat that pops up when you spend too much time poking around on their web site. I specifically asked the chat pre-sales person if the 2600n would work for this application and was sent off to a tier 2 chat pre-sales rep. The tier 2 rep told me that yes, this printer would be great for this application and so I bought it. It was very easy to install on the network and the software automatically detected the printer and I then installed the drivers on each of our computers. Then when I tried to install the printer on the digital sender, it installed, but it would not print. After spending hours on the HP web site I discovered the fact that the 9100c digital sender can only directly print to a printer with a JetDirect card in it. I confirmed this with HP using e-mail support. Unfortunately the 2600n does not have this embedded print server and actually relies on your computer to do a lot of the work to prepare the print job before it is sent to the printer using USB or a direct IP address link. For most, this doesn't really matter, but for me it did. I solved the problem with buying a 3600n and will end up saving money on toner cartridges in the long run. The 2600n is now on my home network and works great there. If you are planing to use a color laser for a lot of pages, I highly recomend looking at the 3600n or even the 3800n. The extra expense ($200 and $500 respectively) up front to go with the higher models will save money on the toner price per page in just a few toner replacements (5 and 3 sets of toner respectively). The other great bonus of the higher models is that you get more paper handling options like big trays and duplexing, not to mention the traditional embedded print server (JetDirect). As with any printer, you either pay when you buy the printer, or you keep paying for expensive disposables. Bottom line - this is a great starter color printer and I would strongly recomend it for home or small business use. It is relatively fast, reliable, low cost to buy, and easy to install. Oh, and don't always belive what a pre-sales HP person tells you. ;-)

NOT WORTH BUYING. TONER IS VERY EXPENSIVE
Review created: 01/10/08
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I bought it because I have two HP Inkjet printers at my office, and although they provide good quality printing, I would like to present my work in Laser quality. The printer has superb resolution; the work is crisp and clear.

What I like: Color laser printer is very inexpensive when bought here at EBAY.

What I dislike: the thieving sellers at EBAY open the original boxes, and TAKE OUT THE TONER, so you have to buy it from them, separately.
Before you buy, beware: TONER COSTS AN ADDITIONAL $200 TO $400 USD.
Therefore, the toner costs over $350.00 dlls, which is more than the price you buy it directly from HP at HP.com

What I recommend:Buy HP 1018, which is cheaper, and cartridges are also less expensive, or buy a Laser Printer you can actually refill.

Good printer, but regretted after more research
Review created: 12/03/06

8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I decided to buy it because it was marked an unbelievable low price, only drawback is it doesn't come with toners. I thought that's okay in the first place but after I received the printer, I started to regret.

First of all, the toners cost roughly $80 each which add up to $320 as this printer require 4 toners.(Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) Second, I read a review about this printer and found out this printer, due to its high cost for toners, have an average 5c per page for black and 22c per page for color economy.

If you are not familier with the cost per page system, for your information, this printer has the highest cost per page in the entire color laser printer market. This printer's bigger brother, 3600, has a 1c black and 9c color cost per page, rated lowest in all one pass laser printer.

Also noted on the review if you own this printer, after you ran out of toner its better for you to trash the whole printer and buy a new one from your local technology store, its cheaper than buying all 4 toners.

Additional comment: If I were you I will probably go for the 3600n, which costs around $700 but produce a very high quality output and much faster, most importantly, flawless economic.

A very good printer at a very reasonable price

After having a lot of inkjet printers I was tired of having to change cartages every 2-3 months or every 300 pages. I decided to try a laser printer and I bought the LaserJet 2600N.
I consider it to be an exellent office printer, I use it at home, but it is capable of handling a small office.
The printing quality is exellent for text and graphics, it can handle pictures but not at a high level.
One thing I liked very much is that I don't have to worry about paper jams, I never had one since I bought it.

It is big, and not so pretty, but it does what it is claimed to do.
Please don't be fooled by inkjets claiming to have a printing speed of 20ppm that is not true unless you print in VERY low quality and most of the time you won't even come close to the declared speed.
The 2600N is rated at 8ppm in B/W or Color, it doesn't make any difference, and the quality is as a high quality print in a inkjet. So if you took the 2 printers and made a direct comparison I consider that the laserjet is about twice as fast than any inkjet.
I personally timed the 2600 and it does perform as declared.
I recomend this printer to ANYONE, if you are tired of spending money in replacements than get this one, it is worth every penny.

I purchased the HP Color LaserJet 2600n printer approximately a month ago and was impressed from the beginning. The set up was very simple and I was able to print soon after installation. The response time is only about 20 seconds after sending the print request. Fantastic resolution! I was very pleased with the printing on regular paper, however, printing on cardstock (such as greeting card paper) did not print as well. Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

  A great home office printer

This is my fourth HP printer purchase; currenty I have three working reliably. Each printer I buy has been better than the one before. This 2600n is very satisfactory. I have not tried photos on it, but have done flyers with photos on plain paper, and am very pleased with the fidelity of color. The feeding mechanism is very satisfactory, straight-on, and reliable. It hasn't jammed on me yet. I ran out of black toner early on (did lots of b/w printing) and couldn't run any more copies without replacing it. SO, don't count on running 2500 copies before you have to replace a cartridge. It may be less depending on how much black or other color you use. I bought this as a factory resale, package was never opened, for $155 with shipping, and it was good as new. Then I discovered it would cost me $304 for the four toner cartridges (gulp), but I still am saving myself money on what I would pay to outsource. My husband is a teacher and realtor, and we needed to do professional printing for his home business. This fits the bill!

Hewlett Packard Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

I did my research on this printer and selected it because of the features and also because HP to me has been a pretty reliable brand. The quality of print is excellent and if you do a lot of color copies this model with different color cartriges will save you a lots of $$$$ in the longrun as each cartridge is supposed to give you over 2000 copies. The advantage of being able to buy the printer without the cartridge that is usually included (because this printer was refurbished) is that the ones they give you when you buy the printer at a store are not high capacity and will probably give you about 500 copies (although it says high capacity on the box this is not true). I had actually purchased this same printer at Office Depot for $499 and was able to find it on ebay for $41 for printer and $200 for the high capacity cartriges. Printer works great and I saved a ton of money! Even the guy at Office Depot was surprised on what I paid for it on Ebay as I was returning it.

Best Home printer for the money
Review created: 08/19/07

I bought one of these off Ebay and could not be happier. It replaced an older HP Deskjet 6122 printer that had a duplexing tray. Although this does not have two-sided printing by default, it prints high quality color pages fast and has networking built into the unit. I had the older printer hooked up with an old HP Jet Direct box, and had more issues printing to that unit. This printer has a web interface to keep track of the toner levels in all the cartridges, as well as perform maintenance on the printer remotely. Could not be happier with the quality of the color and black and white printing.

Excellent for day to day use

This is an excellent color laser printer for day to day use. If your looking for photo quality however you may still find better luck with a traditional inkjet printer. In terms of cost and efficiency, this unit is definately worth the the investment. Toner cartridges are substantially more then your traditional ink jet, however when broken down by cost per page printed, this unit outperforms at and estimated cost of .02/page, vs an ink jet at .09/page. In terms of printing speed, this unit is excellent and will easily out perform any inkjet at the same comparable quality print settings. I was able to connect directly to my network, and was able to print with ease after installing the the setup utility. The printer was immediately recognized without any problems, or the need to modify my firewall security. Overall i can say this is an excellent printer for anyone looking for a quality printer for day to day and small business needs.

My Choice for an everyday, Home Office Printer
Review created: 06/01/06
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The Color LaserJet's perfectly priced for the home office, yet powerful enough and network-ready for small offices, this printer lets you produce business, marketing, and sales documents in-house, rather than paying to outsource the work to a print shop. My husband and I have a home network set up between 2 PC's, a laptop and a server and the ability to place the LaserJet 2600n printer on the network was a great benefit for us.

The HP Color LaserJet 2600n does have a multitude of other functions that in my opinion makes it worth the price. The front-panel LCD makes it easy to set up, use, and maintain the printer. The two-line, 16-character display alerts you to your toner levels, taking the guesswork out of printer management. It has a standard single-sheet priority feed slot, a 250-sheet covered input tray 2, and optional 250-sheet input tray 3, you can configure this printer to meet your specific paper handling needs quite easily.

HP Color LaserJet cartridges are designed for simple operation. With just four print cartridges and easy access from a single door, you get hassle-free supplies maintenance. The print cartridges may seem rather expensive at first glance, but when you consider their cost against what you pay for a single smaller color deskjet cartridge and the amount of printing that you can do with the laserjet verses the deskjet, the price for catridges is extremely affordable. I find that it is very cost-effective.

While I find the laserjet is not a photo printer,I love the fact that it has the ability to create high-impact, professional documents and marketing materials quickly, without the wait you have with deskjet printers. There are supplies designed specifically for HP Color LaserJet printers, HP Color Laser Glossy Photo Paper and HP Color Laser Glossy Brochure Paper have HP-proprietary coating on both sides for truly impressive, professional-quality color documents - I printed some great vivid color images with their glossy photo paper and framed them for artwork for my daughter's new apartment and you can't tell that they aren't expensive art work.

The price is coming down on a lot of the color laser printers, and this printer is worth the cost for the benefits it comes with, in my opinion it is priced right for the home office or small business.

Professional print shop quality at a fraction of the price. Toner cartridges are a little pricey but not any more so than paying for printing or other laser printers. I love the ease of printing from home and getting the quality I need. The unit is a little taller but not quite as wide as other laser printers so I can still use desk space and not need a printer stand. I'm very happy with price versus quality.

Watch the weight cover stock - READ my UPDATE
Review created: 01/14/07(updated 04/13/07)
by:
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

**UPDATE** We had our first issue with this printer. It was placing a mottled gray image behind all our print jobs. HP worked with us on the phone for about 45 mintues and then said it needed to be returned. Now - HP was great as far as service. BUT, I learned during the course of this call that I cannot change the fuser unit - this can only be done by a technician trained for such. Our HP 4550 allows us to easily change the fuser, transfer and drum kits ourselves. The 2600n just lets you change the color cartridges - all the rest requires a technician. AND 65# cover - by the specs given in the printer info - is the MAX weight you can use. We still like the machine - especially for the price - but wanted you to know what we discovered.

GREAT little laser at a very affordable price. ONLY CON we have found is that it doesn't like 80# cover stock. When using 80# cover stock, it would paper jam or, if it would print (we were printing postcards 2 up on a sheet) one would be off register by about 1/8 inch or more. Noticeable to the point we purchased some 65# cover to finish the job and avoid jams. We like to use 80# to 110# cover - which is why we rated the Good or 4/5.

Is it worth the cost? You bet. In terms of a color laser the consumables are in line price wise -- it runs quite efficiently -- and the colors are nice. If you are a small business that prints a lot of documents -- this is well worth the price. Buy your consumables on ebay - they run about 3/4 the price.

I searched for a good lazer printer for home use and I found the HP Lazerjet 2600n. I haven't used it very much, but what I have printed has been excellent. It was very easy to install the toner cartridges and I started printing immediately. My only dislike would be the size, but future technology will take care of that. Overall, I would recommend the HP Lazerjet 2600n to anyone.
