Hewlett-Packard H4355

I love this device, with its brilliant color screen and the attached keyboard. The H4355 realy is the first usable PDA. Plus the fact that they combine bluetooth and WiFi into one device makes it extremely convenient! You don't need to carry a large clunky smartphone when this can connect via bluetooth or even through a serial port cable on phones that allow you to tether for an internet connection.

I have also used the serial port to connect to my GPS receiver. Again works with no problem. If you have a bluetooth GPS receiver you can aso connect it to that as well.

My setup I use a Sanyo USB to serial converter on the phone which then plugs into the serial port of the PDA. I have also used bluetooth and WifI which both work flawlessly. I especially love the Wifi which searches for available networks with no hitch - it scans and finds networks just as easily as a WiFi enabled laptop!!

It has an SD card slot which works just fine for storing attachments and extra files. Wish it had a compact flash slot as well, but I guess everything has its limitations.

I really like the software HP includes with this device as well. If your battery dies, HP backup is great at restoring the device to a backup file you can save on the SD card or you can save it in the included flash storage space on the unit itself!

I should add that battery life is decent. I can get a few hours out of the thing running it with Wifi on. I also like that the battery is removable/changeable.
Again I really love the keyboard. You actually can leave your laptop at home with this device! I don't understand why HP dropped this unit - seems the smartphone version of this is the only thing I can see thats equivalent. A real useful device if thats the way you choose to go, but I tend to prefer a cheap cellphone and a more expensive PDA.
