Hewlett Packard DeskJet 940c InkJet Printer

I used to work at OfficeMax while in college, and this was the last desktop printer HP offered with full ink cartridges in the box. Considering the cost of ink, this printer was a steal (essentially $30 after subtracting the ink cost). I have had this printer for years, and it has worked wonders!

I have been using this printer for several years without any problems at all. Easy to load cartridges and quick to print.

I came to ebay because of a salesperson's comment about a printer that I had being discontinued. I had just purchased new printer ink cartridges and they would not fit anything else. The salesperson said, "Why don't you try ebay?"
I feel very fortunate to have found the printer and it being in such good shape and for such a good price.

This is the "Everready Bunny" of the HP inkjet world. It just keeps going and going. This model is new enough to have a USB connection, but old enough to also have the parallel option. It will print up to 600 dpi, which is easily enough for most general use.... and isn't too bad for some photo printing. (Those who want to get serious about photo printing will want a newer model.) Pleanty of HP original cartridges are still available, but there is a flourishing market of inexpensive refills available. (Again, the cheap refills, about $5 for black, are perfectly adequate for general use.) XP and Vista (including the 64-bit version) include drivers for this model, so this model may be good for another 10 years or so. This is not "top of the line." It's just a good and useful printer for general use. That works for me!

I need to replace the same style printer because I have lots of full cartridges. The item was as described and the communication between the buyer and myself was good. It arrived promptly and in good condition. I would buy from them again.

HP printers were the printer to have when they cared about the customers. Now, (their "NEW" printers) it's just bottom line & spareholder driven. They used to offer 25ml of ink for under $30.00, now it's 5ml for $20.00. If you're going to buy an HP printer, go with an old model. HP was a thing of the past (check thier stock price).

This printer is just like my 932c, only faster. The seller I bought this from also perhaps unknowingly had a full unopened ink cartridge inside as well. The printer is fast and quiet. My 932 took the 42ml ink, while this is only 25ml for the same price.

I don't like HP for their practices of expensive ink. My OfficeJet takes a 5ml ink cartridge. If you consider 5ml vs 25ml vs 42ml, you have 5x more ink from this printer then the newer Office Jet, and 8x more from the older printer. The 42ml and 25ml cartridges are $30 while the 5ml cartridges are $17. The equivalent comes to get 42ml out of the 5ml printer, you spend $136 instead of $30. To get 42ml out of the 25ml printer you spend $48 instead of $30.

The 932 is slower but cheaper for ink, while this one is only a little more cost for ink then the newer HP models. Buy your ink online and you will be ok.

This is a good printer. It does just exactly what it's suppose to do without any hastle. I am glad I got it. ------------------------------------------

I have really liked this printer since I bought one new about 5 years ago. Unfortunately, it was discontinued before I could buy more than 3 for our office. This is a durable printer that fits nicely on a desktop at an affordable price. It has high capacity ink cartridges (longer replacement intervals), and it produces high quality prints.
Thanks to ebay, I was able to by more of these for the office. This would be a great printer for a student or for home use as well.
