Ink jet cartridges are not cheap. Even after 10 years of market saturation you still pay $35 or more at retail for a color cart. Buying them on eBay saves me money by allowing me to buy a couple of carts for the same I would pay in a store.
It is often difficult to find the high capacity carts in stores as well, but they are readily available at auction. On average, I can buy the 38ml size at just over half price (about $28) or two standard 19ml size for about the same amount.
Some points to remember: always buy factory oem cartridges if your printer is still under warranty. Non-factory refills are much cheaper, but also will void your warranty, and I find them to be less productive. Why? The ink used in HP cartridges is formulated specifically for their printers, and is protected by patent. Using non-HP ink causes performance to suffer. Also check the expiration date on the cartridge. Anything that is well past the expiration may cause problems due to storage at too high or too low a temperature, age, etc.
Always contact the vendor before bidding to verify expiration date, and whether or not the item is genuine HP factory sealed.

I needed this color ink cartridge to print out family photos. It is expired and is dried up and streaky. Awful!

I decided to buy this because I thought it was a new cartridge, not a new "very outdated" cartridge. Had I known that it was 2 years old I would not have even bid on it.

I have an older HP printer that is still hanging in there. HP Ink is so-o-o-o expensive in the stores. E-Bay on line is tremendous for saving money. The Ink is great. it flows well and there are no problems with it. Witht he cost savings on E-Bay it is a perfect combination of practicality and price.

I find the HP color printer and the cartridges required for them are extremely valuable to me in my personal and business uses, especially when used at the highest photo-quality setting on photo paper. I get these cartridges solely now on ebay because of the price. I get much more mileage for my money by buying them this way and feel freer to use the printer more often. I had been paying double the amount even at wholesale clubs.

HP Ink CartridgesWhat can I say? It's a new HP ink cartridge. Yeah, they work, but why pay $40.00 an an office supply store when I can find them here for 1/2 price. Factory ink cartridges are a rip, but as long as there are industrious, smart, clever people out there, we'll find ways to get around the ridiculously high prices of factory ink.

THE ITEM WAS NEW EVEN THOUGH OUTDATED. IT WORKS FINE. I WAS TOLD THE HP PEOPLE SAY THAT THE DATE ON THE INK JETS DO NOT MEAN THAT THEY WILL NOT WORK OR DRY UP AFTER THAT PRINTED DATE. IT'S MORE FOR SHIPPING CONTROL IN THIER WAREHOUSE. THEY ARE A PRETTY SAFE BET TO BUY CHEAP HERE ON EBAY.

Quality product for less money
) I trust sealed, name brand products more than refurbished or refilled products. I purchased this item because the price was right and it was new with a long shelf life. Overall if you own a Hewlett Packard I recommend original ink for their products.
