This is the ideal device for a business professional or a student. It has everything you need to make your life easier. Pocket Word however is pretty much useless. Buy TextMaker by SoftMaker and you will have the full functionally of an awesome Office Suite. I have a 4gb CF Card which has allowed me to store multitudes of documents, games and programs. I am running PocketDos and have been able to play those old dos games such as Sim City 2000 etc. Running hpc2000 OS, there is a multitude of programs available for free on the internet if you got to the right sources. I suggest going to http://www.hpcfactor.com to read up on this device,, the highs and lows, and make an informed decision.
As a University student, I would be lost without it. I am able to type out all of my lectures, write papers, etc. If you are willing to learn about the device, and go the extra mile to find out all the little tricks you can do to run different programs, you will find that it comes pretty close to a laptop. With a wifi card, I am able to get my mail through Pocket Outlook, surf the net with Pocket IE and keep my life organized with it's excellent PIM manager. With a good set of earphones, it also doubles as an excellent MP3.
You won't be disappointed. With an original MRSP of $999 usd, picking this up for $200 or less is phenomenal for all the things this device can do.

The HP Jornada 728 is a wonderful little computer. I use it heavily for business and for personal work. The 728 is the last in a long and trusted line of handheld computers from HP.
Most people have never seen a handheld computer. When I'm using it, and people see it, they stop to ask about it. They’re surprised at its small size, large screen, keyboard, and what it can do. Many think it's 'cute' and wonder what games it has. Since I never play games, I can't answer that question; it's always used for serious work. However, I’ve heard that games are available for it.
Though it's not a 'full blown' computer, it runs the applications that I need. There are many add on applications out there which will run on this little wonder, allowing me to do all sorts of tasks that I would normally need a laptop for.
The unit also syncs information with my laptop and desktop computers. Any changes made on my laptop, desktop, or Jornada, are all automatically updated when the unit is docked. All my Outlook contacts are easily carried with me wherever I go. Word and Excel documents also go where I go. When I'm in a meeting, I can pull up information on my Jornada that others can only access from their desk.
My favorite feature is the keyboard. Because I do so much data entry while on the road, a built in keyboard is a must. The keys are just large enough to type on normally. Even with the nice keyboard, when the unit is closed, it fits easily into my back pocket or jacket pocket.
The long battery life, over 10 hours, is a huge plus. I can easily leave home, sit in the airport and use the unit, take a long flight, all the while working on my Jornada, and arrive at my destination with more than enough battery power left.
Personally, I believe the two major downfalls of the Jornada line were the fact that most of the public never saw one and their price. Though the line of Jornada HPC’s have been out for many years, it still amazes me how many people have never seen one or heard of one. I’m constantly asked, “Where can I get one?”
The Jornada 728 is not a substitute for a laptop, but it sure comes close in my realm. I think of my Jornada 728 as a small extension of my laptop computer. When I don’t need the power of my laptop, the Jornada is perfect.

I bought the Jornada 728 to replace my aging Jornada 680.
Uses:Travel or coffeeshop Internet, writing, emulators, whatever applications I can put in there.
I really like Jornadas. I find the keyboard perfect for my chicken peck. I know some people complain the keyboard is too small, but I guess it depends on the user's hand size and typing style.
The web browser is pretty good for something that old. It display most pages without issues. Websites that format other sites for phone 'browsage', like skweezer.net, might come in handy for certain feature-heavy pages.
Overall, I think the Jornada 728 is a viable alternative to the new breed of ultraportable laptops, especially since the form factor is yet unmatched.
Assuming, of course, that the intended usage matches the capabilities of the device. Be advised that you won't get Windows XP, or any kind of Windows other than the preinstalled Windows CE 3.0 (HPC 20000) on it. That operating system is not directly compatible with x86 (PC) operating systems. Which means that same applications won't run on PCS and HPCs. However, there is a pretty wide selection of programs developed for the HPC2000.
Also, there are versions of Linux being developed for HPCs, however, getting them setup exceeds the capabilities of a casual computer user.
Using a Compact Flash card greatly enhances the storage, almost matching that of the low-end EEE Pc laptops.
Since the price of a refurbished 728 or 720 is about a third of that of a new low-cost ultraportable laptop, it is worth checking it out!

I am well satisfied with both the product and the price at which I was able to obtain this one. It works well with Windows XP desktop provided it is set to Windows 98 compatibility. While it came loaded with MOST of the programs that I will need, I am disappointed that many other programs are no longer available for the Windows 2000 CE. I have added a 1 gig flash card and am no where near filling it up. Word of warning... I bought this one NIB. You can buy used ones cheaper, but, "Buyer, Beware!" The used one could wind up being money thrown down a hole. Make sure you are getting the special software that is required for the Jornada 728 to communicate with your Windows desktop PC.

I had been looking for a PDA for business use. I had seen most of the the ones which are phones. They have such small a small key board thaat it is vey difficult for me to use. I found this on the acutin. It has a full keyboard that allow typing much easier. It is full syncable with my desk to and lap top. i can use the unit in court while waiting for my case to be called. it is Microsoft based, with a slot for a WiFi card.. It has a slot on the back for a compact disk, so I can hold up to 1gb or more of storage. I has a 14 hour battery life. I have it mostly inmy brief case so carrying it si not a problem. it is approx the size of a box that a new watch or bracelet come in from the jewler. I purchased it from Alex-Atlanta. I had a bid in that came in second place. The winning bid did not work out for some reason so I was given a "second chance" bid on it. He took my final bid. I sent him payment via pay pal and within a few days the items was up and running in my office.
Ales-Atlanta was ready to answer any questions I had with the unit. All and all an example of what Ebay is all about. I recomend Alex-atlanta for electronic /computer items. I suggest you give him a try if he has what you are looking for. i am very satisfied with his service and his product. I have purchased many books and other Items on Ebay and I found alex-Atlanta to representative of the majority of sellers good reputable people who provide products a a good price and service that completes the sale. The HP Jornada 728 I received was in excellent condition and working great.
It was shipped to me very quickly and packed well. I and very happy and using my Hp Jornada 728 as we speak for my writings and MS office files for work.
It is not a full blown laptop but very portable, light weight and easy to
use and sync up with my PC at home and work. I recommend this seller and
product for others....

This product is very good it is all that i have been wanting. it is not too small as most pocket computer neither is it too large and heavy as laptops. it is just perfect for me. with my 1GB Compact Flash Disk i can carry around a ton load of important information with me.

) I like the compact size, I love the rechargeable battery. It has windows and can be connected to your desktop computer or even a printer. You have access to the internet and it even has a PDA system. It came with an ac adapter and also a car adapter and a docking station which I love. The draw back is that there are newer models out there, so when I went to order a case for it, it has been discontinued. I decided to buy it because I could get connected to the internet with it when I was away from home. The other thing that I was not happy with was the fact that it did not come with a user guide. Overall I am very happy with my HP Jornada 728 and I would reccomend it to others.

Jornada PowerI am a Current User of a HP Jornada. Its 3 Years Old. Bought it Brand New.
And After Dropping it a couple of time because I carry it everywhere like people carry their Cellphones. I Still Works. They are Durable, Reliable, and a hell lot better than an Iphone. You have a Laptop Computer in your Hands, full Keyboard, A Touch Screen, Tons of Apps and appa you can write yourself. I have a Software Developer kit. Its a part of me I want a Backup. So an extra will be there if mine dies and then mine will be its spare parts if the New one needs parts. HP makes durable equiptment and its was a mistake for industry to switch to HPC (Hand Held PC) to Blackberry or cellphones, HPC are real computers. Blackberry are Glorified Palmpilots or Digital Diaries. USELESS!!

hp jornada is a good machinegood pda, good seller, I can not get it to pair to my pc, but I my have to download a program for it. I would like to be able to download some programs for it, but i can't find any, mybe someone can help me with that. over all I love the alarm system and the visuals.
