Hewlett Packard 10b Scientific Calculator

You will not have any problem to find a HP-10B on eBay today and I think it is a better investment than the HP-10BII. The 10B has been produced first in Singapor (we can identify it because it shows 5 rubber feet on the back) and secondly in Indonesia (this one shows 3 rubber feet only on the back). The singaporian model is the one to look for, particularly if you are a collector. Keep an Indonesian model if you like variations and because it is a better model than the 10BII. Take a look also about the 17B and 17BII models that shows interesting variations if you are collector.

The HP 10BII works well as a financial calculator, but the original HP 10B (not the II model) is much better. Although the functions and keystrokes are all the same, the 10BII has a cheap feel to the buttons when pressed and sometimes the number or function doesn't register when the button is pressed. Works OK, but if you can get the original 10B, get it.

The model comes with 2 color options for the second functions..make sure to CHOOSE THE YELLOW/ORANGE COLOR NOT THE GREEN if you want to find your keys quickly..perhaps with time , they'll be more familiar..but starting out, it's a bear!!

I bought this for a financia course I'm taking at NYU. Although the offical recommendation was the 10bII - I found them to have almost the same functionality, and pretty similar key/function layout, and the 10b as an older model will cost you less $$$.

The user guide is very useful, and actually teaches you half of what you will learn in class, without paying for admission.

Compared to modern calculators, it takes some time to get used to the "older" design, the gray unlit single line display, but over all - it does the job perfectly every time.

Easy to use. Tactile buttons. Solidly built. Good basic financial calculator. Manual is clear and easy to follow.

Can't buy these in the store; used to it; love it. First time ebayer, so unfortunately for me, I did end up with four of them. Maybe I'll sell a few later myself!

I received the product in a timely. It arrived in the condition described. I had no problme with this purchase at all. I would reccomend ebay and this seller to others. My Finance professor reccomended this calculator, and it's impossible to find in stores so I was extrmemly happy that it was available in New condition on ebay.

The product has been great! I bought it for a finance class, it makes finance simple I dont have one hundred characters to say about this calculator and this review would like me to write 100 characters. 100 characters? this seems more like a school project of sorts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is by far the best, basic financial calculator on the market. In this case, price doesn't matter; it has all the functions needed for many of the needs of accounting and finance students as well as accepted on the CFP exam. I recommend it to all my students since it is easy to learn to use, very intuative since you don't need to learn a bunch of steps in order to get an answer. For the price, usually about $40 in a store, it is very powerful. I can't go through all the details of what it can do since there are so many of them, but go to a listing and read the details there. It is a fairly long list. I have never had a student come to me later and state that the calculator was a waste of money. Most say it is really great and helped them get better grades on exams. It saves a lot of time compared to having to use tables or work out financial formulas, and time is important during a quiz or exam situation. So, overall, I can't find anything negative about this great little calculator considering it is designed for a novice user. However, if someone is looking for one with programming abilities and/or more sophisticated operations, they should look for the next model up. There are several models by HP that have all the bells and whistles for the expert user. For someone who has not been introduced to the abilities of a financial calculator this is the one, and only one, that can do the job. Its easy to learn, has lots of pre-programed functions and has a nice, professional look to it. In my opinion, having used HP calculators for over 10 years, this one is the very best one available on the market.

This HP is like no other. The keys are smoother in operations, the calculator feels liek sturdy manufactoring as compared to its replacement in the market made of cheap plastic. This is the calculator for you if you like ease of use. Very dependable.. I have two... one as back up in case I loose one.
