I like this product because it is a required text for my mythology class. I bought it to read and what can I say...Its a book, cant really play with it.

This is an excellent work in the field of the reaccuring hero/saviour theme in many mythologies and religions. This is a great jump on point into the work of Joseph Campbell and/or into ancient hero worship. The book does a great job of covering many cultures and religions around the world and tieing it all together into the universal hero theme. He gives us great insight as to why humanity needed these hero myths thousands of years ago and why we still need them today. This is a great book for anyone interested in where mankind's mindset came from and possibly where it's going.

I became interested in Joseph Campbell after seeing his PBS DVD the Power of Myth. The Hero With a Thousand Faces is one of the best books I have ever read. If you are searching for questions about religion and life well this is the book for you. Campbell brings it home with the thought that all cultures and races are the same it is just how we interpret the symbols that makes us different.
This book will improve your thoughts and expand your mind if you are open to new experiences and new ideas!!!

I found this book easy to read and informative. Joseph Campbell has the gift to take a difficult subject and make it simple. If you enjoyed his other titles, you will surely enjoy this one.

I bought this book for a friend after discussing with her about myths and their relavence to contemporary society. I read it myself before giving it to her and I was impressed by the number of cross references Campbell was able to make from different cultures to stress the universality of 'the monomyth'. The book is often very dense and I would not consider it light reading, but for those truly interested in the origins of mythology, it is a must read!

It's a great book. Really great. Like a lot better than just good. You know, pretty much awesome, but more accurately great.
