Hellboy (DVD, 2004, 2-Disc Special Edition)

Everything from the acting to the direction to the artwork and graphics are just perfect. Ron Perlman is a joy to watch as the title character and everyone else in the movie is just as good, especially John Hurt as Professor Trevor 'Broom' Bruttenholm, Hellboy's adoptive father. Definitely a film to watch, especially if you like science fiction or comic book films.

A entertaining action-packed fantasy, beginning in 1944 when the mad monk Rasputin--in cahoots with occult-buff Hitler and his Nazi thugs--opens a transdimensional portal through which a baby demon emerges, capable of destroying the world with his powers. Instead, the aptly named Hellboy is raised by the benevolent Prof. Bloom, founder of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, whose allied forces enlist the adult Hellboy (Ron Perlman, perfectly cast) to battle evil at every turn. While nursing a melancholy love for the comely firestarter Liz. Hellboy files his demonic horns and wreaks havoc on the bad guys. The action is occasionally routine, Hellboy a pop-culture original. He's red as a lobster, puffs stogies like Groucho Marx, and fights the good fight with a kind but troubled heart. What's not to like? Good Movie!

Very fast delivery and the DVD was in excellent shape. I like scifiction movies that are very funny and they have a great story to them.

It was listed as being "brand new" when it was actually repackaged...
The DVD was however in good condition, but not "new" as posted.

One of the best movies that I've every seen, full of action and adventure. A must see!!!!!!

This is an interesting movie with a few one liners that are funny. Special effects are pretty good. Plot and story line are ok but not very thought provoking. I was never into the the Hellboy comics so I don't know how true it stays to them. Overall I was expecting to like this movie more than what I did but it was not a total loss. I will watch it again but it won't be on my short list of movies I watch all the time.

Guillermo Del Torro is a great film maker! Hellboy was full of action, comedy! All his films are well directed, so you would not regret buying this DVD!

A great cult film, with fantastic sets and a wonderful sense of humor. The second DVD on the making of "Hellboy" is definitely worth watching in its own right.

This movie was awesome. The only thing that was a turn-off about this flick was that the ending was rushed. It needed more time to build up some suspense. The special effects and the costume/makeup was very cool and very well done. This is definitely a movie worth having in any collection!

This is a very dark movie in the comic book character series. For small kids it may be too dark, violent, and scary.

My family loves the movie, especially Abe. We want more Abe. Ron Pearlman is a very good Hellboy. Humor is thrown into the movie very well at times. The graphics and effects are good but not great. The characters and storyline carry the movie. Religious folk may not like the biblical references and symbolism. The end of the movie is very well done.

Anyone that likes movies in the comic genre will love this one.

Bad script, bad acting, bad bad bad bad bad bad bad!!!! I love comic books and I am a sucker! This movie gave me a really bad headache! However this movie was far better than Catwoman. Two hours of your life you will never get back ever again, think about that before you even consider putting it in your DVD player. This movie is awful!!

Action packed, irreverent take on what an adopted alien life form would bring to a culture of emotional misfits and class conscious political correct groups.

I enjoyed this movie because of the special effects ,mainly, but also because of the interaction between the characters in this movie.It appeals to adults and kids alike.

Purchased this movie for the incredible special effects. Storyline is interesting-little drama, romance, death, violence, vengeance...all the virtues of a comic book story. Good to see another comic hero get some credit...I got out of comics twenty-five years ago. The director was able to portray the characters well, visuals are also very striking with contrasting colors and lighting effects that heighten the drama in the given scenes.

I enjoyed this movie because it lets you see not to always to believe in what you see. Hellboy was a good person, good heart and helpful even though people said he was evil. Hellboy is a big kind gentle person and out to save the world. I enjoy the graphics and the story. I think it's a good movie

My family really likes to watch movies that are action packed. We enjoyed watching Hellboy, it was funny and exciting and action packed all at the same time. The creatures were really life like and unusual. We really liked the part when Abe, Hellboy and Liz along with John and the other men from the agency went after the bad guys under the cemetary.

bought for children 4 to 6 years old. they love it. had to buy another copy because there are two different households. lots of action but not scary.

Viewed this movie on television, loved it and decided to buy it. Could not find this Hellboy in ANY stores including movie stores. It is full of action, comedy and romance. After buying it I put it on to watch with my husband to see what his reaction would be. He got caught up in the action and laughed when the sarcasm flew. He could not believe how great this movie is and now wants to buy Hellboy 2 to see if it is as good as the first. To find a movie that both of us love is rare so I would definitely recommend this to anybody looking for a good action movie with a little sarcastic comedy thrown in.

We haven't watched it yet but I loved hellboy II so I thought I would give it a try. It got here in good time and looks great. Thanks Sheri~
