Book, Heinkel He162 by Robert Forsyth
Excellent book, well deserving of a place on any aviation book shelf. The short gestation and service life of the aircraft are meticulouly researched and marvelously covered. The book is extremely readable, and I read it from cover to cover. While formal and business like, the prose mirrors the fast pace of the He 162 project (from contract to test flight ready in 70 days) with its development set in the dangerous and unpredictable last days of the Third Reich. This makes the book read almost like a mystery novel or adventure story. I read it from cover to cover! Most of the photos are previously unpublished, and are very extensive indeed. This book is one of the best of its kind, and I can recommend it highly!
