McCauley will stop at nothing to do what he does best and neither will Hanna, even though it means destroying everything around them, including the people they love. With a solid supporting cast that includes Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Ashley Judd, and Natalie Portman, HEAT is a truly epic crime story.

HEAT was filmed in 65 locations in and around Los Angeles. No soundstages were used. HEAT marks the first time that Al Pacino and Robert De Niro shared the screen. Although they both appeared in THE GODFATHER PART II, they didn't have any scenes together. The film was originally made as L.A. TAKEDOWN for television in 1989 with an entirely different cast. Director Michael Mann disowned the edited television version of HEAT aired by NBC. To create a realistic character for thief Neil McCauley, Mann visited Folsom State Penitentiary to interview inmates. As McCauley, De Niro's collars were always pressed and starched perfectly, just as they would have been in prison. Al Pacino had a clause in his contract that allowed him to make up a certain number of his own lines. The film grossed $67.4 million domestically. Heat - A great movie that made me feel like I was watching Miami Vice. Pacino / De Niro. Two monsters face off in this movie. I found myself pulling for De Niro but I always like the bad guys. Its a longer movie but I didn't find myself wishing it was over. Give it a try. Review ID: 10000000005660840 Was this review helpful?
