This is book was an excellent read. It showed a great story about a young girl doing what was known back in WWI era as a "man's job." She is a tough girl. However, she doesn't break horses in the way thought in those times, but instead goes with her heart. She doesn't "break them" so to speak, but she "gentles them." It does have just a little romance entangled in this story, but not in the stereotypical way. It shows many stories surrounding the families of the horses she gentles, and that is to me what makes this story unique.
