Great Summer Reading Material~Wilderness Adventure Book

This book gets an average rating from me because it's just too easy to read. Probably more for my 14 year old than an accomplished reader. However, it is a good story.
Travel with orphaned Kendra and her Grandfather, Papa Mac, in their wilderness adventures. Papa Mac struggles to make a home for little Kendra in the wilderness of mountains, trees, and rivers that no one has named, yet. When Papa Mac visits Kendra at the orphanage, she is still clutching the rag doll her recently dead mother, his daughter, made for her. He looks into her big green eyes and he knows they belong together. Kendra grows up in this wilderness with a self-adopted Indian mother, Nonie and her Papa Mac. She learns the ways of the wilderness.
As always, Janette Oke writes a superb book. I've read it twice. It's a good story, not great literature, but perfect for lazy day reading. Plus, your teens can read it too.
