The Heart Of Saturday Night is one of Tom Waits best albums and the one I keep coming back to over and over again. This is a flawless masterpiece that emotionally grabs you and refuses to let go. A must own. 5 Stars.

Song writing is not novel writing. Tom Waits chose wisely. I don't know how many people told him that he can't sing but thankfully he, like Dylan, chose to carry on. The Heart of Saturday night and San Diego Serenade are among my ATF.

  You think you know music

Tom Waits is not something everyone can listen to. It is very gritty very emotional and powerful. It speaks to your soul. They are very few people who are listened to by people through every Spectrum of life. Tom Waits is one of those people. His music comes from what I can only imagine is years of heart ache and alcohol. Listen to his music and your life will never be the same again. You will have stepped into another range of music. He mixes Folk, Blues, Jazz, Rock. Thats usually in one song. Tom Waits the greatest music genius of our life time.

Don't miss out on this one

I feel that this is Tom at his best in pursuing his intention of cutting a rich, diverse record. It's much cleaner than most of his records. It's full of catchy, swinging tunes and beautful songs that are low-down to the dumps. This record is an absolute must-have.

  From the Heart

Tom Waits speaks to the spirits lingering in every all night diner, empty taxi and lonely downtown alley and he does it from the heart. Expertly picking up the thread of human frailty and weaving it through the pure poetry of his lyrics, Waits unites listeners in the common experience of need. "Please Call Me Baby, " gets me everytime! How many of us have been where Tom Waits takes us and could tell a friend about it so eloquently? Do yourself a favor and listen to these stories. They're about you.

  Not for recent Ex-Smokers

This CD Single handedly started me smoking again. Listening to this CD is like sitting in a pirate bar made completely of wood and barnacles, filled with opium monsters and 2 different types of grog as the only menu items (black grog and green grog). And when the smoke clears, there is a shadowy figure wearing a mask and playing a black piano. It is Tom in his element as I imagine it to be. Great Album.

The Name Says It All, THE HEART OF SATURDAY NIGHT!
Review created: 04/04/06

If your into backstreet boys, you will probably hate this album, because this album is full of real music, not todays repititous crap. This is an album that you start listening to and cant stop for about a year or so. If you don't know Tom Waits this is a great starter album, if you do know Tom Waits and like his music, this is a must for you as well.
