The Gold Standard

I love the history, photography, research and depth of this wonderful book. There is no comparison if you are looking for information about the ancient pueblo symbol of the dragonfly and its use in Native American arts.
From the earliest pictures of pueblo residents, especially along the Rio Grande in New Mexico, to today's Navajo-dominated jewelry industry, the dragonfly appears again and again. Sometimes beautifully, mystically, combined with the Christian symbol of the cross, often plainly realistic and simple, it will be found repeatedly prevalent in jewelry, pottery, and art.
In a desert, water is life. The dragonfly is welcomed as bringing the rains, honored and revered for its life-giving role. This book has stories, histories and wonderful pictures of ancient and modern jewelry and the art of the pueblo sacred dragonfly.
It is a treasure of information.
