The Heart of Christianity by Marcus J. Borg (2004, Paperback, Reprint)

Haven't actually read the book yet. Have had life changes come up but am looking forward to reading it based on the reviews of others.

I am always trying to find new ways of describing the Christian search for God, and especially like this book as a way of bridging the gap between mature Christians and those who wonder what Christianity is all about. By calling God "the more" that we seek, and by reinterpreting Bible stories to express a multiple layer of truths, Borg helps me reach out to those questioning the traditional way of expressing Christian faith. The five ways one might view the atonement, and scriptural references from which each was developed, was especially helpful. I bought this book because I am part of a reading group on spiritual topics. I have to admit, I would not otherwise have read this book, but I am now so very glad I did. I recommend it heartily.
