Synopsis Seth Barham and Jimmy Winter, both 12, meet and become good friends because of their shared love of baseball. As their friendship progresses, Jimmy helps the awkward and unathletic Seth develop confidence--not only on the ball field but in all aspects of his life. However, when Jimmy becomes more and more involved with alcohol, Seth is unable to save his friend from tragedy.
Seth faces a strain on his friendship with Jimmy, who is both a baseball champion and something of an irresponsible fool, when Jimmy is kicked off the team.
