Most Notable For What's Missing

At first glance, it's quite impressive that all these songs have been compiled into this collection. Just about every Top 40 hit, including all the dopey novelty songs ( i.e " Kung Foo Fighting ", etc... ), will have you revisiting your youth....up to a point.
Then you become aware of what has been totally overlooked, such as EVERYTHING you listened to once you started listening to the F.M. side of the dial, and EVERYTHING you heard when you went punk or new wave. Even disco is under-represented.
Was hard rock, punk, and new wave not 70's pop culture? There's not even a whiff of the biggest rock bands of the era - no Led Zeppelin, no Pink Floyd, no Who, no Stones, no Yes, etc..., no Sex Pistols, Clash, Blondie, Talking Heads, Police, or new wave pop, and even the worlds biggest pop band - Abba - is missing. The list of what's missing goes on and on.
The booklet is well done, the packaging is fun, and the songs included are a blast, but as a balanced overview of the decade it falls far short - all pop and no punch.
