I purchased these CD's after shopping around and found ebay to have the best price. They were new, still in the box and included a really nice book with lots of info from the 70's. This is music I grew up with so I was very pleased with my purchase. I would recomend this collection for anybody who grew up in this time frame.

This is a 7 CD box that has so many 70's tunes included that you'll think you're still back in the 70's. A nice job here.

  Most Notable For What's Missing
Review created: 09/07/06

At first glance, it's quite impressive that all these songs have been compiled into this collection. Just about every Top 40 hit, including all the dopey novelty songs ( i.e " Kung Foo Fighting ", etc... ), will have you revisiting your youth....up to a point.
Then you become aware of what has been totally overlooked, such as EVERYTHING you listened to once you started listening to the F.M. side of the dial, and EVERYTHING you heard when you went punk or new wave. Even disco is under-represented.
Was hard rock, punk, and new wave not 70's pop culture? There's not even a whiff of the biggest rock bands of the era - no Led Zeppelin, no Pink Floyd, no Who, no Stones, no Yes, etc..., no Sex Pistols, Clash, Blondie, Talking Heads, Police, or new wave pop, and even the worlds biggest pop band - Abba - is missing. The list of what's missing goes on and on.
The booklet is well done, the packaging is fun, and the songs included are a blast, but as a balanced overview of the decade it falls far short - all pop and no punch.

What an enjoyable collection of songs and news clips. This is a fantastic reflection of the times. Some serious songs and some novelty tunes that are just plain fun.

  A nice selection of songs

This is a good selection of songs, but it also seems to leave out several which I would think would have been included. Read the listing of the songs carefully, and decide if they're what you want. The recordings themselves are of very good quality, with the original singers.

  Great! .......Wonderful POP selection! 5/5
Review created: 06/28/08

It's about time! (really) I bought it to drive around town in my car. I found myself listening to it all the time. I'm now back in the seventies. For all- This is meant to be POP music. The absence of bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin is intended as those were classified as hard rock. Also missing, thankfully, is much of the disco tunes we were over-familiar with. What is left is a great example of what the seventies was really about. This is a Rhino product. Very well done and put together with care. Not just a quick compilation for a fast buck. The manufacturer's tried hard, and it shows. We also loved the book thats included.
If your into it, Rhino has a 80s decade box as well, entitled "Like O My God" It's just as well done and another perfect example of what an "era" set should be.

This set was perfect - just what I was looking for. A lot of hard to find 70's material on a great list of CD's. Not a scratch or flaw anywhere. I can relive the moments without messing up my dance moves :-)

A MUST have if you were born in th Mid 50's to Mid 60's

If you are looking for Class Reunion music and can not afford or find Rhino's Super Hits of the Seventies "Have a Nice Day" twentyfive CD set. This set is the next best thing. Seven CD's are in this set. The set is filled with Songs you don't hear every day but will bring back images from back in the day. There are also NEWS clips from each period. This set is easer to find and much more affordable. Super Hit's of the Seventies "Have a Nice Day" has some CD's that are very very hard to find because they were short printed.

  Blast from the Past!

This CD set is so much fun! It has the perfect mix of 70s music that my whole family is enjoying. We bought it for one or two of the songs, and the rest were a pleasant surprise. It has a little of everything, from Peter Frampton to Gladys Knight and the Pips. If you can't play your old records or had to toss your 8-tracks, this is the best set around.
