Fans of the Blues Brothers will surely rejoice at the release of Jim Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's HAVE LOVE WILL TRAVEL, which continues the Brothers' grand tradition of injecting classic blues/soul covers with just enough humor and irreverence to let one know that these guys truly love the material. While Jim Belushi has never possessed the manic comedic gifts of his late brother John, the younger Belushi luckily has a much stronger voice. Coupled with a crack band that includes sidemen who have worked with Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Etta James, and other greats, both singers hold their own, often sounding like a combination of Roomful Of Blues and a well-rehearsed Vegas revue. The duo shines the brightest on the more humorous tunes, such as Howlin' Wolf's "300 Pounds Of Joy" (which, taking into account the combined girth of the two portly frontmen, is changed mid-song to "600 Pounds Of Joy"). Throughout HAVE LOVE WILL TRAVEL Jim Belushi and Dan Aykroyd use their talents as funnymen to reanimate songs many other contemporary musicians would simply preserve as lifeless museum pieces.
