Album Notes Omni Trio: Rob Haigh. Omni Trio, a.k.a. Rob Haigh, makes drum and bass that isn't afraid to take you to the stars. Does this work well on the dancefloor? Absolutely, but Omni Trio's brand of drum 'n' space' really sets the heavens alight when experienced in the sanctity of your hi-fi abode with headphones donned. Want proof? Check out "Who Are You (Aqua Sky Mix)," where synth whispers cast tints of surreality on beds of shifting breakbeats and strings time-stretched to infinity. Haigh's rhythmic motifs are generally minimal in nature and his breaks fairly straightforward, but his backgrounds are colored by exquisite electronic shadings, and a rich sense of melodrama. The entwining "Serpent Navigators" is an enthralling symphony of mermaids chanting "Let's get it on" while billowy choruses of electronics swirl through crackling sonic eddies of snares and hi-hats. HAUNTED SCIENCE takes breakbeat science out of the lab and into your own personal supernatural domicile.
