Haunted Highway is an off-beat Horror/Suspense movie starring Rand Gamble as a photographer trying to cope with his wife's deadly accident. This eerie portrayal of ensuing madness by japanese Director Junichi Susuki, is a low-budget movie that combines the road terrors of Speilberg's "Duel" with the pulsing psychological elements of current-day Japanese thrillers like "Ju-on" (remade in America as "The Grudge")and "Honogurai mizu no soko kara" (remade as "Dark Water" in America).
This DVD is a good addition for collectors of lesser known horror and suspense, but the low-budget production values and a mediocre script detract from a good story line. This is a splendid horror/suspense flick for viewers that haven't gotten their fill of ghostly apparitions, psychological torment, and gorey inexplicable happenings. Movie viewers that are looking for the best of the Japanese horror genre can easily find better DVD's to purchase.
I liked the movie, a bigger budget would have made the movie much better.
