Synopsis
Duke University and the University of North Carolina are only eight miles apart, but for fans of the schools' basketball teams, there is a chasm of hatred and jealousy that divides them--the rivalry between their basketball teams is one of the fiercest in sports history, a Gaza Strip of seething tension and disdain. Former Esquire editor and native North Carolinian Will Blyth dives headfirst into the legendary conflict, and he's thoroughly and blissfully biased--he loathes Duke with a passion. He see it as a bastion of privileged East Coast imports, at odds with the state itself. He calls Coach K, "ratface." Blyth returns to his home state after losing his job, his marriage, and his father, to explore more deeply the nature of his basketball rage. As a result, his highly humorous memoir has a deeply human undertone, and readers will realize that hidden beneath his ranting lies a moving eulogy to his sport-loving dad.

Industry Reviews
"Fans of college basketball will wish that all sportswriters possessed Blythe's ability to describe a game, to translate its tension and render its action....[Blythe] writes amusingly, self-deprecatingly and often beautifully."
