Hatari! (DVD, 2001, Widescreen)

I love this movie and I wanted my kids to see it. It came in great condition and really quickly. I feel very confident to buy from them again.

The Mancini score has some of the most dramatic and beautiful music I've enjoyed in any movie. Some schmoozy jazz numbers are great, but I particularly enjoy the Theme and Sounds of Hatari numbers. But the real attraction comes from the beauty of the African scenery and the delightful, if totally predictable romances that make such fare so watchable. Throw in the fact that it's a John Wayne non-western and the Red Buttons humor, and it's a movie worth spending time on.

I've always enjoyed "The Duke's" movies. This is one of my favorites, and believe it or not, one that my parents (also fans of "The Duke") had not yet seen. So I actually purchased 2 separate copies, 1 for myself, and the other was an anniversary gift for my parents. They very much enjoyed the movie as much as I do. And now that I have my own copy, I can watch it whenever I want.
It's really a great movie.

I paid for this item on 5/30/07 with the DVD Big Jake. I receivecd an e-mail from the seller that both were shipped 6/1/07. I requested info on tracking when I didn't receive in 5 days. They finally responded w/ a new ship date & I did receive this one in a reasonable time. I don't think the buyer should have to request the items to be shipped. I paid right after I won the auction, but have yet to receive all the items. Probably won't buy from this seller again.

I remembered watching this movie as a kid with the whole family.
it was something that we did as a family and my mom was a big fan of the Duke

This is great John Wayne film. It features wonderful action of the capture of wild african animals for exhibit in zoos. The danger of trying to capture a Rhino. Good chance to see the DUKE in a roll which is not war or cowboy related.
Animal lovers may not like do to underlying theme.

DVD was brand new and in excellent condition, as promised.

I was a little surprized that there were no inserts inside, but Hatari is one of my favorite John Wayne movies and overall I was very pleased.

This is one of my favorites of John Wayne's. I bought it as I am rebuilding my library lost in Hurricane Rita. I have to have John Wayne on hand.

This movie is fantastic ! It has a terrific soundtrack by Henry Mancini. Great locations and plenty of action. It is not the usual John Wayne movie . I would reccomend to anyone. Great movie!

I bought this one because I adopted two LARGE dogs and they follow me everywhere. I dont have to say a word...but if I leave a room they get up and follow me. My husband said I reminded him of the female lead in this movie and he would hum the Baby Elephant Walk song. I bought it out of curiosity and I actually LOVED the movie. It wasnt the typical John Wayne movie. I could recommend this to anyone - JW fan or not!

One of the best movies of the 60s. John Wayne was a great actor and the film is a great entertainment. Henry Mancini's score is great and "baby elephant walk" was released here.

This scenery in this picture is awesome. This picture is a safari to capture animals alive, a love story and humor. Red Buttons added that touch of humor that makes the story line more interesting. I think he should of been second under "The Duke" in the credits. The cinematography was fantastic. It was more of a safari then it was romantic. In saying that, it should of had a five star rating.

I bought the dvd for my cousin who collects John Wayne movies. It was a birthday present. He received the dvd the day that he left to go overseas for military duty.

My husband received the John Wayne movie, "North to Alaska," for Christmas. He mentioned that he would also like to have, "Hatari!" The year before I gave him John Wayne's, "Quiet Man," my husbands ultimate favorite. So, for Valentine's Day 2009 I ordered "Hatari!" to give him. He was pleasantly surprised and now has his three favorite John Wayne movies.

Very refreshing safari show. Loved all the antics going on through out the movie. I give it a 5 star plus for entertainment and encourage others to view it. Remember this was filmed on location some 40 plus years ago and not to many re takes from all the animals being filmed. Pleasant viewing.-

This movie is great. If you are a John Wayne it gives John a different role than you are use to seeing him in. The cast still compliments him throughout the movie. The movie itself arrived in great shape. A must have for your John Wayne collection.

Great action and comedy. My kids alway complain when I put in older movies, but when Hatari is playing we gather a crowd. They walk in an get hooked. John Wayne and company are catching african animals for zoos. No tranquilizers, just jeeps and ropes. The action sceens are fantastic and the love story is full of comedy.

When ever I need a pick me up because of every day pressures that get overwhelming, I will watch this movie. The music and the exotic action shots with the wild animals take me to a place that keeps me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next scene. It is a great movie for the entire family. No nudity, no bad language, no extreme violence. An excellent movie for all ages, I am 55 and have been watching it since it came out in the 60's. All of my family can instantly answer the question what is moms favorite movie? HATARI
and don't ever say a bad word about John Wayne. You automatically go on her don't trust list. In fact when my husband asked me to marry him I asked him if he had a problem with John Wayne. Sound a little crazy? Maybe, but I still know a good movie when I see one and this is an excellent one.
