Hasbro: Taboo Board Game

Taboo is a simple game where you try to get the most points in a set amount of time. Two teams compete to give clues and guess as many words as possible without saying any of the words on the "taboo list." Say you're trying to get your team to guess "apple." The taboo list may be "tree, fruit, rotten, oranges, & red" You would have to think outside the box (Quickly!) and could come up with an off the wall- "In your throat is an Adam's..." and hopefully your team would guess "apple"! Use any of the taboo words and you lose a point, so be careful!

Taboo is one of my all time favs, and here's why:
1) It's clean (mostly- depending on your crowd) so everyone can play.
2) It's easy to adapt the rules to handicap or help people as needed with simple variations. We've played with younger kids where they can say the taboo rules without penalty, or even my grandparents who play can skip cards without negative points. This way everyone has fun!
3) It's always good for a laugh when people start saying crazy things! Great party game, for sure!

My family and I love this game because it's fun and exciting. This is one of our favorite games to pull out when we have company over. This is a challenging, team game.

This game is so much fun. I first played it my 1st year in college and I loved it from the beginning. The basics of this game is that there is a deck of cards with words on them. You pick one card and there will be a word at the top. For example, the word may be TAXES. Below there are words that say IRS, APRIL, DEATH, H & R BLOCK, PAY and you are not allowed to say these words. You have to use other words/descriptions to describe taxes and you want your team to guess the word TAXES within that time limit - there will be a timer. You will get buzzed if you use the hint words... And the game continues and you give the opposite team the deck of cards... You can stop the game whenever. You just tally up the points and see who is ahead. Basically, just go out and buy this game, get a couple of friends together - and get ready to have some good ol' fun!

I really like this game. We went into it thinking it would be simple...but it's NOT. It requires some thinking and planning. It was funny to get going on some clues and then get tripped up with a TABOO word. We enjoyed this a bunch!
