Anyone who is planning to take up golf,is an amatuer or a pro should read this book. Telling you about it is like trying to explain fire to someone who has never seen it. It will mean something different for every one who reads it,yet each one of us will see the simplicity in which it is written. I hope if you read it, you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Harvey Penick emphasizes on the fundamentals in this book. It is old school, common sense teaching without the technical jargon. Harvey's views on golf can also be related to everyday life situations. Excellent reading for the newcomer, lifelong player, and the young, or old.

Great book. Enjoyable, instructional reading. The never changing tips and mental concepts provided by the author has definately improved my game.

Wish my pro was this cheap! Great book. Very helpful to think about along with the lessons and practice. Nothing had me ready for Tot Hill though! Get 'em next time.

This is a must have common sense book if you golf. If you don't golf, it has many life lessons that can be taken.

I got the book from my library to read, and once I started I found it hard to put down. It contains over 70 years worth of golf knowlege, personal stories, and golf instruction from one of, if not the best golf teachers who ever lived.

What I love most about this book is that all of the chapters get right to the point. There isn't a lot of unnecessary information. In fact, there isn't any unnecessary information in this book. I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my brother, and bought one for myself after reading about how great of an instructor Harvey Pennick was.

I seen this book in a comic strip just thought my niece would like it, I havn't given it to Her yet.

As much a book about life as a book about golf; but the golf observations are solid analogies that help novice or pro think through the game. Penicks' writing is filled with word pictures that help one understand the swing through common experiences sometimes far removed from the links.

That said his striaght forward writing on keeping one's head behnd the ball made a definite immeadate improvement for my game.

Some may find the personal comments on friends and former students a distraction. I enjoyed them.

Had this book for years and lent it to a friend and told her to keep it. She has since passed it on, etc... I wanted to keep a copy of ALL of Harvey's books, so I needed to purchase this one to complete the four book set. I highly recommend this one and the other three.

This book is great for the beginner or the experienced golfer. It consists of a collection of short (maybe a page or two each) stories/memories by Harvey Pennick. It concentrates less on drills/practice tools and more on the philosophy of teaching and learning golf. It's a very easy read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys playing golf.

I think this is the best book on golf and golf instruction ever written. Harvey Penick had a way of being simple and yet profound. Words of wisdom to live your life by are not quite what one would expect from a book on golf, but that's what you get besides the best instruction possible that won't make yours a cookie-cutter swing, but will make you better with what you have to work with. This is must reading for every golfer.

I have always admired Harvey Pennick. I think he is one of the world's best teachers. I have always wanted one of his books. I have taken his book out of the library so many times it's not funny. So, I decided to purchase one for myself. I would rate it: excellent! Haven't found anything about the book yet that I disliked! (As a matter of fact, I ended up buying two of the same book. I plan to keep one in my library, and keep one in my golf bag for quick reference.)
