Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (PlayStation, 2000)

Remembering good ol' times with earlier versions of Harvest Moon brought me upon HM: Back to Nature. It's arguably one of the best, if not memorable Harvest Moon games for PSX/PS2. While newer Harvest Moon games for the PS2/Gamecube and so on and so forth (excluding handheld systems) boast a more intuitive world and more freedom, they also bring a larger sense of complexity. Harvest Moon is steering more and more away from the simple fun that many gamers experienced when Harvest Moon first came out for the SNES. While newer gamers will enjoy these new changes, Back to Nature holds a lot of what older gamers loved and remembered about Harvest Moon.

The only real problem with this version of Harvest Moon (opinion) is the load times between screens, otherwise it's a solid HM game.

N64 also has Harvest Moon 64, which is worth a look if you enjoy(ed) the PSX version, or if you want it's N64 counterpart.

It is a wonderful game for quiet stress relief. If you want a game that you can get into and melt the time and frustration away, this is it. If you want a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat or have you doing a million things at once, keep looking because this is not that.
I personally like the more mellow games so this was ideal. Originally I rented it from a movie rental place and then well, I just had to buy it. It's a wonderful addition to the collection and I would recommend it to anyone needing something more relaxing than the blast em, blow em up, crush em video games. It's even safe for kids, although it would probably bore them after a short while unless you have a quiet, detail oriented child.

This is with out a doubt one of the greatest PSX games out there! If you have ever played any of the other Harvest Moon titles, its time to play the best one ever made. With a more in depth story than even the newer Harvest Moon titles, you will find you time flying by as you lose yourself in this simple enchantig title! A must for all gamers!!

I have no dislikes about this game. My brothers and I love it we would recomend it to anyonewho wants to play a relaxing easy but fun game. It gives you the chance to play fast or slow without having to worry about a timed level or speed.

great game with better crop choices than newer over censored versions! rare and worth the price! graphics are primitive compared to newer versions but storyline and in game play is better!

the harvest moon games are the best ever.i found out about it in a review in nintendo power magazine.So i bought the first game cube harvest moon game....
and of course i wanted more. i had an xbox and gcn.no harvest moon games are for xbox so... i bought a ps2!

Anyways harvest moon games are fun, especialy this one.its a friendly game, suitable for all ages. And its not just fun for kids.in this one you inheiret
a farm.(like all others)and you have to revive it in 3 years, while finding a wife, making friends, and tending livestock.This is a retro game,and hard to find, but if you have the cash GET IT!

P.S. some of the newer harvest moon games are equally fun, or better!

what my daughter liked about this game is that it is almost like Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. What she loved about it was that it had a story behind it. Her only dislike were the characters' freakishly big heads. Her quote, "I mean look at them. Too much big heads!!!!!!" She wanted to buy it to see if it was as fun as the rest of the Harvest Moon games. It was, "... and the animals were cuter then ever!"

I love this game. I got my family to fall in love with it too. It helps releave stress. You inhert the family that was let go down hill. And since you are the boy as you are playing, you got to clean the farm up and get money. The hoeing and cutting of grass and splitting of wood, and breaking of the rocks are the stress releavers. The game makes you think and perpare for if you would ever want a farm in real life and all the hard work that is in it. It is a Great Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of whether you are playing Crysis or COD... Harvest Moon is a classic game. When you just want to chill back with a beer or a smoke and just relax, this game is always there. I wish they released this game exactly as is but in newer graphics. Its only downfall is that the gfx are old... Otherwise its perfect.

I would say buy this game because it's probably the greatest game I've ever played.

I loved it. To make things short get married have kids grow things WAHOO!!! love it. It is my favorite out of the series because. its graphics are simple yet pleasant. The mini games ( especially the tomato fight ) if funny. and i have to tell you I will be playing this game over and over even after I beat it. With that being said I really dont know what else to say other than this game is the best thing since rootbeer, no even better than peach pop ( NEHI ).

I Love this game, I bought it several years ago used in EB, I had played in Nintendo 64 with a friend and I like it so much that I needed to have it.
This is the only game from PS1 that I still played, event though I have PS3, but this game is really really good in all aspects.

This game sucks you in to it's primitave little cozy world. I played it well into the night and on winter break one year I spent a full 32hours just playing it (a bit crazy I know). You have your little farm, you take care of your animals, live a little life. I liked this one better than the newer versions because it is so simple yet so brilliant. Sadly my copy was lost in a fire, so if you can find this game keep it. It's a good one.

This game is so adorable. No blood, violence or people beating women with baseball bats! Just farming and taking care of animals. The festivals are really fun too! It took forever to find this game. Finally!!!

It was a game we had played before and we wanted to own it and play it again. The first time we played it we had borrowwed it. Now, we own our very own brand new copy.

this game is one of the best one player games. once you start it is hard to stop. you can do different things to make your house/land better. you grow plant and veg. to gain money.

I love this game. Its an old classic that I have been looking for for a long time. I was so happy to find this game.

great game, works well, instruction booklet in good condition, but the game box was cracked! fast shipping, a+ :)!

Although graphics are not as up-to-date as Wii or GameCube ETC, it is a fun game to play if you still are the PROUD owner of a PS1 gaming system.

It's not one of my favorites but I like it. It's about as difficult as the rest of the Harvest Moon games (note: I have 8 of them). It's the same basic story, you inherit the farm from someone who you either knew or were related to, you have a set time (in this one 3 years) to fix up the farm which is in total crap condition (they respect the former owners wishes my butt!), you have to get married and become friends with the villagers (if you don't they kick you out in this one), and earn LOTS OF MONEY!!! Only to spend it all fixing up the farm, buying expensive gifts, and raising animals. In short this game can get pretty hard but it can be really fun at the same time, it's basically "The Sims: The Farm Edition". I would buy this game if you had alot of spare time(and apparently money too). I would give it a 7/10 so it's time to release your inner farmer.

I really enjoyed this game a lot. Tons of fun for people of any age.....well not any but you know what I mean :)

This game was like most harvest moon games. You grow crops, raise animals and in some cases you could get married. This game had all that and more. There was many types of crops to grow, you could raise chickens, cows, and sheep and then have them compete in festivals. You got a choice between 5 girls to choose and marry and you had to work to have them like you. Also at the same time, you were competing with someone else in the village for that girl which threw in even more. There were also many cut scenes with each different girl depending on your relationship status.

The only thing I can say that i did not like in the game was the winter season as there was not a lot to do other then tend to your animals and get to know the town folk (and attend the occasional festival)

This game is one of my favorite games for the PlayStation and I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone even if it is on the pricey side, it is well worth it!

Its a great game to pass the hours by and the part I like about it is that it gets girls interested in gaming

Good game. Just like every other Harvest Moon series. What more do you want? If you've never played the game, you aren't going to like it.
